Always interesting to see BTS. I add fire effects and lighting in post but am considering in-camera lighting. With post fire effects you still have the issue of rotoscoping or trying to avoid having figures move in front of the flames. Your method here makes a lot of sense. Your movement size is phenomenal. I *do* use the toothpick method but only for the first ease in/out movement. Anyway, thanks for sharing this... much appreciated.

I was blessed to have friends who knew after effects and helped walk me through the basics, and when I had questions I could call them and ask. If you don't have friends who know the program, I recommend watching a couple KZbin tutorials to get familiar with the interface. Once you have done so, figure out specific small tasks you want to accomplish, and then look up videos on how to do those tasks. As you learn to do one small task after another, this knowledge will build until you are familiar with much of there program. I wouldn't recommend trying to learn it all at once, it's too overwhelming. Just learn how to do that one think you need to do right now. That's what I've been doing for 8 years, and I'm still learning it.

I'm not sure if this was done for visual clarity in the video, but I noticed you don't use the "onion skin" feature while animating. Does one eventually become so well-versed in making small increments of motion that they don't need the onion skin tool anymore?
@BrotherhoodWorkshop
@BrotherhoodWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
I prefer to toggle back and forth to get a feel for how the motion flows rather than seeing the images superimposed over each other. Onion skinning shows me how two frames compare, but not how the seuqence is flowing.
