The minute per page estimate is fairly loose in most cases. It all depends on the amount of dialogue and action you have in your scenes. Most 30 minute tv shows are actually only about 21 - 23 minutes long, with room for commercials.
@noahabel56982 жыл бұрын
So basically, you want a minute per page of the actual show, because most episodes usually are 21-24 minutes with the rest being commercials.

I think the cliffhanger is mostly meant to keep the viewer to stick by and drudge through the advertisements. Same thing basically, but worth mentioning.

So if I'm writing for a 15 minute show (Teen Titans, Space Ghost, etc) which is really only 10 or 11 minutes minus the commercials and credits - what are the best structures for this type of show script?

What in a script tells the reader (potential producer/studio/etc) that it’s an animation vs live action?
@jasonv89274 жыл бұрын
So if there is a good script but can't really animate is it possible to send the script to cartoon Network, nickelodeon, or Disney without a degree or skill to animate? I'm curious!!
@MatterOfFact19304 жыл бұрын
I just did some research on this for my daughter......I found that its best to have your show idea handed in by an entertainment lawyer to a producer/director who's already involved with said company you want to work with for the company to even take a look at it. Can't just send it in like fan mail. It raises the risk of your idea being stolen.

Having worked at Disney Feature Animation, I can tell you that the most important thing for your career is establishing friendships on the inside. For a highly competitive department like story, you make your best contacts at a school like Cal Arts in Valencia California. The people who attend there are considered for higher positions in the company, and the friends they make in school last their entire careers, choosing each other for choice assignments in the films they manage. I went through the school of "hard knocks," and don't recommend my path. If you are curious, you can find my credits on IMDB.

Thunder Light You don't need any drawing experience for the script. If you plan to do the animation too though, you will have to. Unless you want to hire someone else to do the animation.

Why would you need props in a ANIMATED TV show? Unless he meant mic stands and things like that, but those are equipment not props...
@ethanhayes93622 жыл бұрын
I think he means props to help ground the world said characters live in so the setting feels more believable, and to be able to know what the setting and story need at the moment.

hey guys! so i have been working on a cartoon idea for a while now and i was wondering if you guys can give me some feedback on what you think about it so i would like this cartoon to sort of have the anime format, or more like what they did with avatar :The last airbender, its called "Age of Dragons". the plot starts with a long war with an empire and people fighting for their freedom of the tyrant Emperor Seckta who killed his own brothers to be first to the throne after his father died. After making laws that go against everything his father intended the empire to be (Things such as equality and peace among each other) the people of the empire fight back against his tyranny. The General of the army of the empire also turns his back against Seckta and fights with the rebels. After the general and the freedom fighters completely almost sacked the palace, Seckta sent a massive dragon from a save haven from the top of the mountain of the warriors. Dragons are the most fearsome creatures in the land. so the people started to speculate that Seckta is the dragontamer. who is said to be the only warrior worthy enough of fighting alongside dragons. for the most part its true. so now the freedom fighters just completely give up on trying to fight against the empire.

@obsidiancoppersunstones34795 жыл бұрын
That story format was already forfilled, The Legend of Korra and the Dragon Prince long BEEN used this format, it's becoming more and more boring of _the same old format of kingdoms or lands being divided where different groups of people fight between each other, but it one wimpy hero to put the world back in peace again,_ but the ONLY main difference is the villains, but they'll STILL continue to use that same format from before. Ever since Avatar: The Last Airbender, we expected it to be the ONLY series set apart from the rest because of its good storyline. Now look at where we are, you'll find shows with the same Avatar The Last Airbender intro which is plain ludicrousy and then idealized it to hit most of the same key notes ATLA already did at the time of its fame. People need to really think outside the box because using the same intros any famous storyline series covered tend to get recycled over and over. Folks say that writing a storyline in progression leads to running out of ideas, but it gets worse than that, people these days are reusing storyline intros to kick off their stories, by doing that, it gets boring and uninteresting and it'll never get the fame and glory it's original counterpart had. Start fresh and put your own spin on things and come up with new ideas instead of reusing them.
