I wouldn't call the absence of smears a "mistake" as it ultimately comes down to the style. So long as you get the spacing right it can work with or without smears. Personally I was taught not to use smears as people often rely on them as apposed to having good spacing.

Agree in many cases, just not this one. Spacing is heavily dependent on the timing you have. No matter how you space a standard kick to the face, if your timing is 3f, you're going to have to use a smear of some kind to cover that distance so that it reads to the audience. I think many conflate 'style' with simply a lack of experience and respect for the principles.

My main issue is the part where he's falling from the sky and swings from the building. When I look at it, it makes me think that the timing, angle, distance, length of the webbing, and weight of his body don't add up to him successfully swinging to avoid the ground in time. Of course he could be landing and slowing himself, or planning to propel himself in a different way but the animation cuts there so there's no telling. The choppiness of the fighting is actually pretty common in the more cell-shaded sort of animations they have, that's definitely a dilberate thing, just like how the Spider-Verse movies are intentionally animating to get that comic-book motion affect.

It shouldn't be the animation that's mistaken; it's the 3d animation style with which I believe fans have a problem. To be "aware of the limitations" could go on to show how cheaply Disney is investing in 3D over getting creative with its animation style. Just... don't be *Watchmen: Chapter 1.*

Possible, but I think better animation would make up for any disinterest people have with the 3D art style. 3D appearing as 2D has been done before successfully, so I wouldn't attribute it to the 3D.

The animation just feels really floaty. The animators most likely didn't have enough time to polish their animation. Also tv animation is notoriously low quality like this with the exception of Arcane. It just looks like the animation is going from keypose to keypose with no breakdowns. It might have looked better if it was animated on 2s.

I’ll say it, because no one else seems willing to: the show looks cheap. That’s why we don’t like it. The animation feels low-budget, the drawings appear lazy, and the overall presentation screams “cut corners.” It comes across like the kind of project where the directive was, “Don’t spend too much time on this-just crank out 18 episodes to fill six months. Reuse the existing character assets, stick to four camera angles, and rely entirely on bone animation. Great job, team! Enjoy your weekend-2025 will be amazing!”

I am cautiously optimistic we haven't gotten a new Spider-Man show sense 2017 I do wish it wasn't connected to the mcu and more towards the comics but I'm willing to give it a chance

I'm honestly open to the animation style. I think the animation error will be fixed by the time it comes out because it seems like it was originally going to come out November. But they might hopefully fix some of the animation by January, but I don't know. I'm just a little optimistic about it

I think it'll be a lot better once it comes out. I remember TONS of people including myself were unsure of the animation style of X-men 97' due to it at first looking like a cross of what if cgi and traditional animation from early clips and still and it ended up looking great in the final product. Especially with animation and CG I never judge what it looks like until what they consider the final product is released.

How we passed from the beautiful art piece in the SpiderVerse Miles Morales to this quality in animation, I expected more beautiful and epic sense in this new projects. And I know that Marvel-Disney are different from Sony Animation Studios, but the art should be better.
