Both my sister and soon to be sister in law work with teens and children from broken families. It's refreshing to not see social workers as bad people like in a lot of movies. I think it just something from the past that stuck around.

Whats scary is that ive actually watched a documentary on youtube of a real story just like this, that couple had i guess 6-7 kids and they didn’t send them to school, didnt feed them, they used to be hungry and starving but only the parents would eat… they would buy expensive clothes for the kids but never dress them in those clothes, they would just hang in the wardrobe , and above all this they chained their kids to their beds and beat them if they tried to get away… and they would go by their life as normal, until one of the girls escaped and ran out of the house with a cellphone and called 911 and since she was uneducated she had trouble understanding basic questions from the police… they arrived and thankfully helped the kids! I forgot what happened to those psycho parents but she and her elder sister now adults took care of the other younger siblings

I watch the Willoughbys when I was in the midst of a Covid pandemic quarantine, and it helped me cope with my emotional pain. You see in the Covid pandemic I felt a lot of emotional pain because I lost my routine that I loved the job I loved very much etc. even the plans that I was looking forward to for that year was gone and watching movies was one of my coping mechanisms for my emotional pain

Those selfish Willoughby parents got exactly what they deserved at the end of the movie. They were just as bad, if not worse, than the Turpin parents. The only difference being that the Willoughby parents neglected their 5 children and only wanted to spend all their quality time and money on themselves. Meanwhile, The Turpin parents who had not 14 children who they not only neglected but also tortured only because they wanted their own reality TV show and get that sweet reality TV fame and fortune. And how much you want to bet that if the Willoughbys were indeed a real-life family, that Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby would get the same exact punishment as Mr. and Mrs. Turpin?

I swear the Willoughby parents suck. Hell I’ve seen drug attics be better parents and that goes with saying. If I had children, sure they’d be a handful but they be as precious as gold to me. Hell I’d give them everything from love, food and support they could ever get. But as for the kids they try to give their selfish parents a benefit of a doubt but they didn’t take the redemption arc they chose to be selfish despite the selflessness their children went through. Granted what they did in the beginning wasn’t right but than again their parents made their children’s lives a living hell. What happened to the previous generation and their kin like cousins?
