@@ShotoNemar Don't get me wrong, Karina definitely has been known to go hard on a challenge, but Julia creates sub-challenges for herself, like learning how to use Blender over the course of a single speed draw, using a mixed-media oil painting approach to emulate Kojima Ayami, or spending 18 hours sculpting Luigi's Mansion out of clay. Even in the drawing Kaiba in other styles challenge, Karina did a very lavish and beautiful scene that I'm sure was a challenge for her, while Julia did the fucking Berserk manga style that's nothing but millions of tiny little lines.
@animekittykitty
@animekittykitty Жыл бұрын
I love the level of "pulling a Julia" she did as well. Like, yeah, she could have just redrawn Jujitsu Kaizen, but why stop there? Why not make an entire series? And while we're at it, let's use a mixed medium. But wait, we're also making this a personal challenge by adding something we hate into it because it feels good when we overcome. But also, what if ellaborate background?
@izziexxx

@@ShotoNemar I see pulling a Julia as completely subverting expectation, not a skill thing. All of them go hard, Karina especially, but it's more of a "you brilliant bastard, of course you went there." And Karina did it *twice* this time.

@@normal6483 the term would be “demographic”- who the intended audience is- vs “genre”- what it’s about. this is definetely my female related obsession right here, i constantly draw traditional and convert to digital very often because i trust my sketches a lot more on paper, and things seem finished a lot quicker than they do on digital... 3 hours on a traditional full piece is like one hella big detailed piece but 3 hours on digital feels like I've done nothing and its some raw boring sh!t. But digital makes it easier to work on more complex compositions with angles and background and you can get comissioned internationally so... both are great, but my confy zone is traditional and I love watching Karina coloring❤❤

I don't want the episode style to become the only thing they do, but it seems like a good choice scheduling wise for them. It would be really cute if by the end of the series, Nobara became a successful idol magical girl but by complete accident. Like she inlists in a dance class to gain access to their heirloom for a ritual or learns to sing from having to sing lullabies to the panda ao it goes to sleep and stops causing havoc. And maybe shes just so heavily endowed with curses that bad luck basically makes any criminal she comes in contact with experience comedic loony-toons style injuries.

I love this drawing so much. I also love how Jacob loves this drawing so much. Also, I'd love a Karina version of Fruits Basket. So many beast-adjacent characters to fill a drawing with. 😍

Suggestion: you should try drawing Discworld characters based on their names or descriptions! There are so many incredible characters, like Nobby Nobbs, Moist von Lipwig, and the Hogfather! These are my favourite books, and I think they could always use more love 🥰 GNU Terry Pratchett

I'M ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THE CONCEPT KARINA CAME UP WITH!!! I wish this was a real thing. There should be an episode at one point that reveals Gojo's face like in the show hehe. Such an amazing piece!! Love it so so much!!!!

I really, REALLY love this art piece and the traditional marker style, and I would, no, I WILL definitely read it if it's an actual manga! Keep up all this awesome work, Karina! Also love the Studio Trigger styles!❤❤❤❤

On the bright side: these short speed draws fit into my lunch break. On the less bright side: they don't fill up my lunch break.

Suggestion: There are many characters based on the 7 Deadly Sins, how about characters based on the 7 Heavenly Virtues. Or Suggestion: Draw Horror Icons as Magical Girls.

Fruits basket as a shonen would be funny to me. Like, instead of cute animals they turn into mech animals or something

Honestly this is genius for when you need to build up you backlog without giving yourself an extra long day. Filming three separate one person episodes like this. Can't think of a good coffee pun for a show like this. But I think of one of toughs coffee shots.

Day 185: You should do an episode where you organize all of Julia's heinous pokémon creations into teams and then draw the trainer who would have those pokémon.

There is NOTHING like a speed draw suddenly turning into a different medium. Usually it's Julia so it's especially exciting to see Karina really slam dunk this one.

i have to agree, the shorter bites (of coffe grounds i guess?) of the speed draws are easier for me, more focussed on one person, one process and just a little bit more neat, i think
