It's tough cuz the manga was a master piece, but the anime was W A Y to rushed (In season 3 and 4) and didn't hit nearly as hard as the Manga did. But to be fair the Anime director was told by the Author of Tokyo Ghoul to split off from the original story. This isnt an excuse for what season 3 and 4 turned out to be but Tokyo Ghoul (The anime) could have been significantly better and be on par with some of the top anime if it didn't get screwed up. It really sucks to see wasted potential on such an amazing story

In manga they explain that each Millennium Item carry the right to call the power of darkness to punish the loser in a game (shadow realm) and 1 unique miracle skill. Pegasus's eye is seeing people minds, Isis's Necklace is seeing the future, Marik's Rod is Mind Control, etc...and Yugi's Millennium puzzle is Fate changing. It can change any random results from his actions to the one he desire. Thats why his "Destiny Draw" moment is just basically him drawing the perfect card in perfect moment in a perfect turning point in the duel. Basically top decking 100% Guaranteed. In manga he use it in many ways, not only card game.

Plus thats why his strongest deck is basically Exodia deck. With Millennium puzzle "Fate altering" power, he potentially could always pull 5 piece of Exodia in any duel. Kazuki Takahashi (the author) too late to realize this and when he does, he just cant do anything to balance the game anymore except to throw it all away to the bottom of the sea.
