Right place right time all the way. I was 16 when I first discovered FLCL from a few amvs I used to watch. My age at the time, the themes of the show, the sakuga and music really resonated with me and to this day is still one of my top three favorite anime right behind Gurren Lagann and Panty and Stocking. Super cringe to say this, but whenever I listen to music, I'll come up with amvs in my mind and it honestly enhances the listening experience. A song that captures the FLCL vibe for me is: Soul Blind: Phantom Pool I picture that one scene of Haruko revving up her bass before she hits Naota in EP 1 when the guitar opens the song. The mood and the surreal lyric of PP echoes the out of the world metaphors and symbolisms of FLCL. If anime is generational than amvs are eternal, can't stress how much they influenced my taste in shows and music and helped me get a deeper appreciation for the medium and sounds.

It's funny how a lot of anime fans ended up at Soul Eater when they were kids through some circumstance. My first exposure to anime was seeing random Gundam episodes on tv when I was like 4 years old and not even knowing that it came from Japan. I loved Kirby as a kid and stumbled across the anime while browsing unrestricted online, and I had made a few online friends at the time. one of them, this guy named Ralis, made a post on his youtube about how much he prefers subbed anime over dubbed. little did I know, that moment of reading his comment would alter the course of my taste and perception of media forever. I found Soul Eater through watching random videos and finding the Marilyn Manson - This is Halloween AMV for Soul eater. the gothic aesthetic and visuals blew my mind, I knew i had to watch it. I found the whole series uploaded on Funimation's youtube at the time, and the rest is history. great video man, got me reminiscing

4:16 It would stop at the Cell Saga because that’s all that existed for Kai at the time. Kai didn’t cover the Buu Saga until 2014, and that didn’t get an English dub until 2017, way after 4Kids died.

Check out the trio of recent EPs from artist "Sadness", those being "your perfect hands and my repeated words", "i want to make something as beautiful as you", and "i love you". All three are beautiful albums that combine the beautiful, distant sound of Shoegaze with the loud, grungy sound of Black Metal, all connected with the center theming of love, and how it feels to truly love someone. Man I love soul eater, probably my favorite manga asw. I remember watching clips of attack on titan on KZbin and seeing a half scythe guy in my recommended and thought “that looks so cool I should watch it.” I watched it in 8 minute reuploaded segments and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Btw I hope we get a remake, Bones absolutely killed it with the art style and animation so being able to see the full manga adapted and some of the later fights would be so dope
