The original obviously has it's place in our heart of hearts, but I legitimately feel this is a better realization of the song. I always felt the original was a bit (intentionally? unintentionally?) cheesy, but this kind of delivery and instrumentation really owns the on-the-nose lyrics/translation in a way only an earnest jazz singer can

I'm pretty sure the original was supposed to be, in way, similar to pumped up kicks. Both feature dark lyrics yet set to vibrant vocals and instrumentals. I think that this was done to accentuate the chaos that was happening while this played while at the same time elaborating on the themes present in Evangelion But that’s just a theory, a Gaame theory.

I'm sorry bro My girlfriend has a cancer and soon I will be deported back to my home country where the pandemic is severe, because I was laid off my work and can't get a visa extension no matter how hard I try. As long as the pandemic lasts, I doubt I will be able to return here. She is terminally ill so by the time I return I doubt she will still be around for us to return back to these happy days. We lost our pet who was like our child on November. We are still devastated today. His passing reminded me that my happiness was never meant to be and had a very clear expiry date. Just thought of leaving this here, but stay strong. Do it for me and for more people out there who are living a very tough life. As for me, I'm a very weak person. I'm considering killing myself once I get back home. I'd rather do it now that I'm happy. This world is never worth it.
