What annoys me the most about how Ash died Is that out of all the people who could've killed him, it was a guy that Ash could've beat in 2 seconds without a scratch. I'd still be devasted if it was someone else but I'd rather Ash die from someone strong, that's what hurts me the most. He didn't even get an "honorable" death, he just got stabbed and no one else in the world besides Eiji and Ash's gang friends would care. Plus isn't Ash good at recovering?? Out of all things, he died from being stabbed with a switch blade or small knife? Not a bomb, sniper or anything. I'm still not over it. I'm salty and depressed.

The whole point of him dying by something he could've recovered from is the fact he felt that he deserved to die, or rather he felt he didn't deserve to live after all of the things he's done. The whole lepoard and mountain story was a symbolic thing hinting at the end of the story. Just like the leopard, he thought he had gone too far to come back. Also after all the things he's done it was the author's way of showing what comes around goes around and comes back around.

he felt the need to die, because he accomplished his goal so he was happy and just gave up on trying to stay alive. his body was already weak, he's been through alot got shot many times but in those moments he had to stay alive to protect his people, he didnt want to put eiji through anymore so he just gave up. i thought how dumb it was when he died from a single stab but i thought about it and all the pain he's been through in his lifetime added up in that moment to the point he didnt feel pain anymore. im crying while typing this but i know his soul will always be with eiji. i regret watching banana fish but at the same time i learned a life lesson. gosh im crying so much :( but i understand what you mean i felt this why before i researched and though about it. it pains me so much i wanna see him live a normal life with eiji so much but fate is fate.

! Garden of Light Spoilers ! What annoys me about Ash’s death is that in Garden of Light they introduced Akira, who’s relationship with Sing had a lot of parallels to Ash and Eiji’s relationship (innocent Japanese person comes to America, falls in love) and they had a happy ending. The gay “couple” (they were never *technically* canon) had a sad ending and more chemistry, the straight (borderline p3d0ph1lic) couple has a happy ending and literally no chemistry.

Fact (not gonna say fun cause it isn't): Ash wasn't stabbed anywhere life-threatening, so he chose to die, cause he couldn't live with his guilt. So he could've survived if he wanted to :(

At first, people told me 'banana fish is so sad, you should watch it' or 'You need to watch banana fish, trust me it'll make you cry.' I would always say 'bro, it isn't going to make me cry, I've watch so many sad animes and I've never cried to them, this won't be any different', but I watched it anyways. My heart shattered and next thing I knew, I was sobbing. Whenever someone asks me what anime makes you feel 100 different emotions, Banana Fish will always be my answer. I will always be grateful to Ash and Eiji, even if they aren't real, because they taught me that no matter how hard life gets, you can't give up, cause there is always someone waiting for you on the other side. Someone that loves you sm they would die for you. Now I just need to find that "someone." :(
