Yes the real Starry “Shelter” became so popular to anime fans that those fan visitors actually started causing troubles with normal visitors of Shelter who came to see live performances… Even the official Bocchi creators announced a warning statement. Overtourism risk is always there…

I love Shimo-Kitazawa! Funny enough, I also went there for an anime pilgramage, though for an older series; I am a fan of Someday's Dreamers II, which was an anime series that came out in 2008 and also took place in Shimo-Kitazawa. Shimokita reminds me of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury, back in the 80s and 90s. I'd love to visit Shimokita again one of these days!

The series was more true-to-life, down-to-earth type of drama and the magic isn't like it came out of a fairy tale or fantasy novel. Anyway, hope you check it out somehow.
