Shaolin gives me crippling depression when i play him because all i see is blue, red, and people skating on the map with dodge recoveries and i cant even hit them. People stopped playing him after they nerfed his top 400ms light and now we barely see him anymore. Now hes getting a rework and looks like it will bring him back from the dead. Have you seen alot of shaolin players before they announced his rework because I sure havent. What hero should I do next? Hope you enjoyed the video everyone. Appreciate each and everyone.

I feel like they should've kept the unblockable top heavy. I appreciate that you can enter qi stance from side heavy but its certainly not an opener. Shaolin was as good as people could make him unpredictable. He only needed stamina buff and safe qi stance enter (some sort of a quick bash starter) . I can go on talking about the rework but I'll wait for the release. I am just worried they will kill my guy :(

just played him today, (shaolin main) if they keep these changes they kill him for me. he feels just like every other hero now with the general spammy combo patterns like shinobi and such, his new animations look garbage, an actual shaolin moving this slow just looks ridicilous (I won't even mention the qi stance from dodge attack...) he might be stronger/more viable on paper now that people can spam 50s with him but he sure became less creative and less unpredictable and he doesn't feel smooth and his flow is ruined, he's no fun for me this way.

You should try him in the testing grounds see if you maybe like him but the feel is definetly gone for me.

I absolutely hate reflex guard, its because there is a bit of a delay between you switching sides and it actually turning into a block guard so you end up whiffing quite a few blocks despite clearly blocking. Its really annoying to me since I tend to play an Assassin every other round.

I actually really enjoyed the old shaolin. There is just something about it. I mostly miss his unblockables and the unblockable after sunkick was actually a very viable move. You could also drain your opponents stamina like crazy by hiting with sunkick and feint the unblockable to light and another kick. Also the old sweep had its own uses like for almost guaranteed death point strike because no one expects the sweep. Overall old shaolin was fun for me. The only thing i really like about his rework is being able continue your chain or go for Qi stance after dodge attack and dodge cancelling Qi stance.

I am the same way, I used to main him before the rework, I liked a lot of his old moves like the unblockables and now his sweep just makes it feel boring. It made me stop playing him because it felt like I didn't have to work as hard to actually win which I find boring, I still play him though.

I dont hate the direction they've been going at all, but I 100% see what you mean about Ubi fixing things that aren't broken and removing things that are just outright fun. I hope someday that this game gets a sequel with a complete overhaul on the art of battle from the ground up. I'm talking I want to see 5 directions instead of 3, New types of combos and attacks, larger movesets, and completely change how GB works, I still think the game relies on the GB too much. That being said, I understand why GB is what it is, but I wonder if it wouldn't be different if the game released now instead of 6 years ago. Been thinking about returning for poops and giggles but idk. I am however pretty stoked that this game still has such a dedicated playerbase as toxic and pissbaby as some if it may be, y'all are literally keeping the game alive lol. Kudos.

After one tricking Kensei to 70 I was moments away from maining Shaolin but when I hopped into practice arena I saw it... Reflex guard. I don't know a whole lot about his kit but after watching this video it makes me miss the days when Kensei was the most balanced hero. Too many heroes win for free with 0 brain power required. The pre-option select removal defensive meta was rough and frustrating at times but the offense meta is equally rough imo. Getting rolled over because your hero is inferior is annoying, but when that hero is completely braindead, shits infuriating. Is it impossible to have a meta where most heroes are like Shaolin, Kensei, and Valk? God damn this game has so much missed potential...

That's me I don't know why that looked like that I have really good Internet and I made a read that he was going to dodge and the zone tracks but the animation is always finicky and needs to be looked at in my opinion I can't tell you how many times I have had this happen to me in fights with kyoshin

They needed to make his chi top heavy an undodgeable because characters who don't lose their guard on dodges could just guard to either side and dodge, making the "50/50" a 33/33/33 in their favor. They should have given him an unblockable top finisher in his infinite chain like zerker, minus the hyper armor, so he still has his unblockable pressure against OOS opponents and in gank situations. Right now his infinite chain is still basically useless except for getting another light in before spending 99% of your pressure in Qi stance. Typical Ubi, the only characters allowed to have access to a full set of tools have a pre-release event you can pay to use early and style on everyone else.

Been 70 with him for about 2 years and I LOVE THAT HE IS GETTING CHANGES, EXCEPT FOR THE SWEEP CHANGES, I hate when the devs do this, shaolin mains like me want reduced stamina costs, more flow (yes we’re getting this but still) a better unblackable (it also pisses me off that they are removing this) enhanced lights, s IN THE RIGHT SPOTS, being able to soft feint attacks into qi stance, he is so weak but has everything in his kit to deal with situations, overall I like the changes but they could have done more then JUST the sweep
