Actually scientificly speaking. It would probably go the same way as paterna. Since the infant would be fed nutrition from its mothers body during gestation, a massive majority of its cells would have to be made of material of her alignment. They touched on it earlier, but when they eat food that comes from the opposite direction they get just a little bit lighter. (Unfortunatly I dont think that method could be used to transition someone like Age over to Paternas direction, since gravity plays too much of a role in biological processes, so the transition by that method would no doubt be fatal. Picture what happens when you hang upside down and all the blood pools in your head, except its your whole body being pulled in two different directions.)

I watched it due to this AMV as well. The movie is great but does have a lot of holes in the backstory. The biggest for me was the time between the main story and the disaster seems to never really be nailed down in the story direction. How did they forget the real story within a generation? And things were all over the place in terms of decay and rebuilding. (The actual time was explicitly stated in a computer message at the end of the movie. It's just the implied time seemed to vary from a couple decades to several centuries.)

Can't believe I've never commented on this, I used to listen to this so much during 2020, also the same year I found the anime. I was surprised that most people I spoke to had never watched it because It's such a good anime, definitely need to rewatch it at some point
