Not only is he more realistic and easier to empathize with (at least for anyone who's been through hell---which I can safely say most fans haven't been through), he's also a character who develops noble morals as he realizes that he wants to protect his friends and squadmates from being killed the way his mom was killed. His original feeling of killing all the titans is a noble motivation because they're monsters, not people. He's a tragic character because he has to witness his friends die time and time again despite him having titan powers--he still couldn't save them. The scenes with Eren with Levi Squad in the giant forest were some of the best and most brilliant character portraying scenes for Eren in the whole show.

I don't expect every fan of the series to like him, he's not a perfect character, but the "reasons" he's been hated were so overblown and nonsenical that even non-Eren fans had to call out the BS. Even now, despite that he did terrible things, the ways they're trying to vilify him are hard to grasp, and they don't help their case by 1) ignoring his development and seeing it doesn't add up 2) they try to make things up to make Eren look worse and subsequently underscore the situation he was in 3) try to make the warrior look better now when the truth is that they're just as good/bad as Eren is. As always, substantially way more people like Eren than hate him, as the latter was always the minority by far. Don't feel bad about cheering him on, as even those who don't like what he did are cheering him on and love his character. Even after chp 123, I managed to win people over who saw Eren in the worst light, and thanked me for helping them understand too lol there is still more to Eren's mystery and the answer to it is def not him destroying the world. Let's cheer him on to the end (where its most surely him holding that baby) and do it all again in the anime this fall.

@@cathode5115 im going to explain with my limited intelligence, with what i've understand so far. I always want to write it down somewhere so it'll be a long ride. It was all revolved around the ability to see the Future by seeing the memory of the next descendant. Simply put, by seeing the future, Eren could devise the plan in motion. But come the question that how he influences the present from the future. It was implied in the chapter that Eren was controlling what future Grisha will see, maybe because of his access to the PATHS in the future. By showing Grisha parts of the memory, like the imminent danger of the upcoming disaster (wall Maria attack) he gave Grisha reason to go to the Reiss. But it was vague enough to make him desperate (like just give him memory of the wall breached but not the fate afterwards, if Eren showed the whole thing Grisha mightve became depressed or gave up instead). Then when he was hesitating, Eren showed Grisha the "Present" where Grisha is seeing his own memory while Eren stand there and reminds him of all the comrade he lost. He transcends time and space at that moment, simply put he's seeing Eren in his memory of the future that hasn't happened yet but at the same time already happened, Eren then further influence Grisha to kill the Reiss and once again set the plan in motion. If you ask me it was hella genius of Isayama to devise such plot. Time Traveling gimmick were usually introduced as a hack ability that was used as a sign of terrible writing or lazy cop out (because it was always way too overpowered and complicated. Writers usually use it as a means to solve an unsolvable problem. Well it's still complicated here but i digress). But in this case the time travel ability is actually very limited in terms of the scope, there's no omnipotent vision that encompass a large scale event, it only shares a person's vision that is Eren's, but because of how Eren is very integral to the story and his strong desire of freedom it could encapsulates the grand event in the future, all by seeing from one man's vision. It was like fate, a destiny. but if you think more about it it wasn't about a grand propecy or something inevitable but a self fulfilling prophecy. It won't happen if the next descendant isn't Eren. Eren was a no one, he's not special. But he's very focused driven and have strong ideal. Eren is simply an embodiment of freedom, it was born from his own soul and his upbringing (Grisha also influences Eren's ideal greatly by changing his view and giving his son his own freedom, learning from his experience with Zeke, so it was also his doing and Zeke's doing in a sense that sets up this chain of events). Like this vid says Eren will do anything for freedom, that desires is ultimately become the driving force of the revolution that's to come. Also from the most recent chapter it was also told that Ymir herself is influencing the wheel of fate by once again desiring for freedom, her desires for Eren. It's not a story about a "Chosen One" that used fate as a metaphorical god that decides everything, but a story of a normal man becoming the literal "Chosen One" that forcefully kicked the wheel of fate in motion simply by existing and thinking the way he always thinks. Just like Eren said. "I am special because i exist in this world" It was metaphorically and literally true. TL;DR everything is set in stone the moment Eren is born or heck even before he's born (arguably it was decided when Eren Krueger got his power, It could even before Grisha is born) because he became the Chosen One he is by becoming the Embodiment of Freedom. He's by no means special or strong but he become special and strong by his own will. sorry for my bad english but.... Mad respect to Isayama. truly the best story i read so far and i know he still hiding some aces up his sleeve and i will be blown away once more.

Hell yeah, I seriously thought this was some cringe ass anime about giants with a lot of gruesome scenes apparently. When I finally gave it a look since it started popping literally everywhere, I was blown away by the art work, animation and the story. It gradually became more and more complex and after the basement reveal it wasn't even about titans anymore. I specifically love the aspect that here the concept of right and wrong is highly debatable. Many different viewpoints are portrayed and you can decide by yourself on which side you are on. It is not black and white, these are the heroes and these are the villains.

(Revised theory below this old theory but its very long) The attack titan has the ability to see the future and meddle with the past.. to produce the present we are seeing right now.. the attack titan holders cannot see the future or meddle with the past without royal blood.. which explains why Kruger didn't know who Mikasa and Armin was.. Eren was only able to see the future and meddle with the past because he was with Zeke and Grisha was able to also see the past because he also touched royal blood.. this is why the phrase to you 2000 years from now exists because Ymir who had 9 of the titan powers including the the attack titan's ability to see in the future foresaw her freedom within Eren.. (Like what some of the people say yes I actually forgot that the founding titan was a thing and that could be the caise to how he can meddle with the past.. I also forgot to say he could see the future and meddle with the past attack titan holders and them only.. What I didn't get tho that yes he touched Historia's hand and either saw the past from Grisha's POV or the future from future Eren's pov.. Yes Historia has a a baby and that might be ymir reborn.. So imma revise my theory..) (The revised theory) The attack titan has the ability to inherit memories from future attack titan holders only.. The ability that allows him to meddle with the past is from the founding titan.. But using those abilities the user needs to be in contact with royal blood.. But that doesn't mean they cant access it.. Through the attack titan Kruger was able to inherit a memory from eren about Armin and mikasa but he couldn't realize when that memory is from because he wasnt in contact with a royal blood.. Eren was able to utilize both of its powers because he had the 2 and Zeke was there.. Grisha also was able to utilize future memory inheritance when he came in contact with the reis family.. But I doubt grisha saw 2 erens (one who could've confirmed that eren won after the eren who persuades him to kill the reiss..) and I doubt eren even could inherit his future self's memories which means when he was talking about a memory of scenery he was inheriting from the next attack titan holder or the next ymir.. Historia's child.. But she isnt going to be the ymir from 2000 years ago like how people think she'll be the reincarnation of the same ymir from the past no she'll just be normal but charged with the responsibility of being the new ymir.. Its like presidensy but everything that happens in those 2000 years leads up to a new president and the previous presidents gets free of the duty.. Or the ymir from 2000 years tries to manipulate the people to vote for a new ymir and the history just continues with different people because they are descendants of the previous ymir's subjects.. The tragedy ending Isayama is talking about is about them not realizing that history will repeat for the next next ymir to be elected.. Basically eren is the devil and he will get the titan powers to Historia's kid.. I also doubt that the king was able to turn tens of millions of eldian people to wall titans.. applying this theory to the origins of wall titans they either are this history's way of restarting for the next ymir or the wall titans were accumulated through every historical loop. The phrase "To you 2000 years from now" is for eren because he's freeing the previous ymir by giving the duty to historia's child which would be tragic because like I said history will repeat unless eren realizes this and stops the history loop but that would mean the ending wouldn't be a tragic ending..

@@a.khoirulaziz therefore in order to access its fullest potential, the attack titan needs access to the founder titan, Currently the founder is within Eren, but in order to activate its true power he still needs the ROYAL BLOOD which Zeke has, The other attack titans, Grisha and Kruger could listen to partial part of the future, but didnt have full access to it because they need Founder and Royal blood Atleast thats how I interpret it

Attack Titan doesn't have the ability to see the future. It's all Eren showing past inheritors his present. Also, if the devils theory is correct, the "to you, 2000 years in the future" is actually Eren, who made the pact with Ymir 2000 years in the past through the paths and gave her the Titan abilities.
