I was thinking the same thing dude! When Isayama drew the tree, he made it look remarkably different and stand out from the other trees. This tree was bigger and more vibrant than the others, it also had that opening with the pit of water inside. Why would Isayama do that? Because AOT has heavy influence from Norse Myths and the tree Ymir ran into was a reference to Yggdrasil , The World Tree. Since The World tree was magical, it's not crazy to think Ymir's tree in this chapter is also magical. There's also a bunch of people who've theorized that the Titans came from trees. Looks like that theory was pretty accurate after all.

A theory: Ymir may have seen into the future when that spear struck her. Eren can see into the past of and communicate with bearers of the attack titan. Ymir may be fair game for cross-time-communication as the originator of all titans, Attack included. In their dying moments, Ymir and Eren spent a long time in the path-dimension. Ymir dies from her injuries because Eren sets her free in the path-dimension. In return, Eren continues living in the future. A life for a life. Additionally, Eren being driven by freedom since he was born may be because all of Ymir's eternity of slavery within the paths dimension created him as an outlet for her desire to rebel and be free. It may also explain some of his anger issues when he was younger, being a manifestation of her frustration that she was never allowed to act upon.

Eren doesn´t want to end the whole world, he wants him, hes people and Ymir to be *free* . When he said he will destroy this world, he obviosly means the situation of the current world where people are afraid of Eldians because of the Titan powers. Rumbling is most likely small scale to destroy either the invading Marley army or the gathering united world army ("If anyone trys to take away my freedom, I will take away their freedom") Erens goal is most likely end the Eldians ability to turn in to titans with the help of Ymir (who can change the aspect of the whole race via paths), maybe by destroying the path world and severing the connection of all Eldians (Eren said he will end this world when he was in paths, so he might have meant the path world) - this will diminish some of the hatred the world feels towards them but not all of it - so what plan he has so that people won´t hate subject of Ymir after the Titans are gone I´m not sure, but the Titans and their past is the main reason people fear Eldians. Of course there is a possibility that Eren will destroy the whole world with rumbling and leave only Eldians in the paradis live and wiping their memory about the previos world -- but I can only see this happening if Eren is willingly to kill some of his people. (Eldians in Marley for example.) Eren will free his people: By making sure that the world or anyone else (Kings, other nations etc.) can´t opress them and tell them who they are because of the sins of the ancient Eldia tribe. Eren will free himself: By making his own choices, not accepting solutions that take away his and his peoples freedom (Zekes euthanasia plan or paradisis plan that will take too long and result to invasion by other nations) Eren will free Ymir: By meeting her 2000 years later and setting here free in the paths, releasing her from the psychological torture of the first King and his royal ancestors, destroying Titan powers (Path world where Ymir is trapped) and raising her lovingly and caringly like she deserves after Ymir is reborn. (Historias child 100% Ymir reborn in the end of the series after she is free from the paths.)

I think that you are confusing the term "Eldian" with "Subject of Ymir". The Eldians are people affilated with the Eldian Empire (mostly composed of Subjects of Ymir but not all of them: the Ackermans, who are not Subjects of Ymir, are also Eldians) and the Subjects of Ymir are descendants of the progenitor herself who are connected to Paths and can turn into Titans. The first Subjects of Ymir were Maria, Rose and Sheena. Nowadays, thanks to Marleyan propaganda the term "Eldian" and "Subject of Ymir" are almost viewed as synonims. So, this is why the first Eldians where not able to turn into Titans, because they were not Subjects of Ymir.

I read some speculations and it said that back at the time, there is a famous saying that “if you want to be a wolf, then eat a wolf” so if you want to be strong like anything that you want, you need to eat that particular thing. So the King Frits thought that he could apply this famous into Ymir too. So he wanted his daughters to be strong like Ymir, so they need to eat Ymir.

In ancient times it was quite a popular shtick, folks would eat the organs of bears or wolves to «gain their power”, so the king took a wild guess with basically the only technique he knew. And it’s stated somewhere in the manga that they also had no clue about location of the power in the spine, so they just made the poor children eat every part and hoped for the best.

The spine thing in the tree is kind of interesting to me because when I first watched the first season of attack on titan I believed that titan powers were connected to the Earth, because in the scene where eren transforms to save his friends from cannon fire, Armin notices that flowers had grown near his titan body that hadn't been there before. It lead me to speculate that some kind of living energy had been given to eren so he could assume his titan form, but that energy had originated from the earth, so when it passed through the ground it formed life (flowers). My original theory for the series was that titans were created to kind of regulate human population and human advancement by the earth itself, but the earth wanted to ensure that biodiversity was preserved, so by killing all of humans it would be removing from that. So when the titans had exterminated a set number of the population, titan shifting abilities were granted to eren sk that he may push back the titans. That part of my theory has long since been debunked, but the whole earth thing still seems plausible. Also anyone else notice that the whole in the tree could be like a metaphorical womb given its shape?

Or it wasn’t there to begin with. The thing that turned her into a Titan was the fluid she fell in. I think the spine attaching itself to her was really her own spine transforming and since it was a drawing it just looked like it was separate from her. That’s why she turned into a Titan immediately after falling in.

Fire Song because titans are created by injecting fluid into the body. We’ve known this for a long time now. Spinal *FLUID* is what turns Eldians into Titans. Also, Ymir’s children didn’t actually eat her spine to inherit the power. They simply ate around the bones. It’s pretty obvious that a random spine didn’t attach itself to her spine... if that was the case it would still be attached to her back which it’s not. Why do you think they didn’t explain what that thing was? You rather believe it was an alien or some mythical creature? Once that scene is animated you’ll see what I’m talking about. It wasn’t an actual spine in that fluid. That was her real spine transforming after the fluid she fell into got into her body. What’s the first thing they point out as she was submerged into that fluid? They made a point to show her swallowing the fluid. And if you really analyze the image of the spine “attaching itself” it was literally attaching itself to more than her back. You can see it attached to her head as well. Which doesn’t make any sense if you think about it. Go back and analyze. Then come back and thank me for the information .

Yeah I realized that their are a lot of parallels in this chapter,however one thing that really caught me off guard was that Ymir despite being treated very cruelly by the king still protected him by coming in the way of the spear.I think this symbolizes an Ackerman’s devotion to his/her host.Even though Eren was rude to Mikassa,she was still quite worried about him even after he broke her heart.I think that Ymir protecting the king will be a future parallel to Mikassa protecting eren.This time however,I predict that Gabitch will take that sniper of her’s and just as she is about to pull the trigger,Mikassa comes in the way and ends up getting shot instead of Eren.Im not implying saying that Ymir is an Ackerman btw.After all Isayama never fails to surprise us with character deaths.

Yeah you have a pretty solid theory but that doesnt cover the major hole that is that the Ackermans are completely immune to the kings will and wishes which is why nearly all of them were persecuted to extinction. Except for Mikasa, Kenny, Levi, and Levis mom. But two of which are dead at this point. The Ackermans were from what I’ve heard just experiments with Titan power. But that they aren’t tied to Ymir.

So now knowing Ymir fused with some mysterious spinal cord/parasite thing to attain titan powers and was eaten by her daughters to pass down the power through the ages, how does this all relate to the Ackerman clan gaining their amazing abilities and sense of loyalty? How did they get these incredible traits and not become titans or deal with curses like the shifters? Or is it something completely different like genetic enhancement (like SOLDIERS from FFVII) or just being inherently bad ass as a warrior race?
