It was the first time Sachin and Saurav opened together…who knew they would go on to be one of the greatest opening pairs in odi cricket.

Those days when the Indian team was pathetic with the bat, ball. The morale was also bad and we used to easily surrender to opposition. Painful days for Indian Cricket fan..

So true and well said.Gives us a lot of satisfaction looking at Indian team now when they dominate all other teams.Unfortunately we dont have enough titles to show for it even after being consistently the best.

Yes I watched the match live....Sachin & Sourav played slowly for the start & at the fall of first wicket of Sachin India was 20-25 runs short already.... Ajay Jadeja was a bits & pieces player. Only notable knock I remember is against Pak in 96 world cup & against Zimbabwe at South Africa chasing where Sachin made 104 of 97 also
@arjunghose286813 күн бұрын
@@soumyabanerjee3708 Then you have not seen the triseries in 1998 against Australia in India.He was the man of the series and until the finals didnt get out his average was 350+ with two centuries.And a gem of a flying catch.Then you also didnt see his century against sri lanka where he and Azhar almost won us the match chasing 300 after being 64/4 till vaas got him out on a waist high no ball with the help of cheating umpires in Sri Lanka.Jadeja also played many knocks to finish of the games including 1998 sharjah finals against Australia,without his half century at better than a run a ball India would again not win despite Sachins century.Jadeja played well even at the top of the order but in the interest of the team played at 6 and finished games for India.Mostly playing cameos.Also he was one of the finest fielders India had and could compete easily even in this t20 setup.His knocks were T20 style knocks in the 90s.He was a decade ahead of his times.
