Anita was by far the best singer in the Carter clan, Or at least I think so. She could have gone much further with the right manger and publicity!

Not only of the Carter clan. Maybelle and Helen were world class singers and Anita was arguably the greatest singer of a generation. She had the greatest range of any singer I've heard. People called her a soprano because she was a fantastic soprano but she could also sing in lower registers like when she sings songs like the Blues song "Lonesome Road" Her voice was amazing , We will never hear another singer like Anita Carter imho Anita really didn't care about Fame Anita's roots of being the bass player in their all-female family band kept her grounded. She was getting thunderous applause and standing ovations since she was 13 years old singing on the Old Dominion Barn Dance. Anita never chased Fame - Fame is still chasing Anita"
