Oh the memories! My second year really following the festival. Anjeza was extremely well liked and charismatic...she had the it factor. She was very composed although very young. Song was catchy and happy...well deserved. I usually like the Albanian entry.

Other than block voting, I think most of the people in the top 10 this year were those who managed to sound somewhat decent (and audible) through the terrible soundmixing. She was one of the few singers in that year that did wonderfully. This is one of the few times where Albania did a good job redoing the song. I am not going to say it's the best song Albania has come out but it's in my top 5 favorite entries.

Agreed. The mediocre stage didn' help much, but what really stood up was the terrible sound, almost no entry was spared from being completely butchered.

Apparently TRT decided that the live singers would be broadcasted to television viewers in stereo but have the backing tracks broadcasted in mono. Therefore the horrible sound quality. Mind you they fixed this problem somewhat in the final, but the semis sound much much worse. Thankfully, the EBU fixed this problem in 2005 afterward, but mind you these are different countries and different stations (with some having help from other countries) in organizing the contest.

The stage this year was alright. I think they were going for a more organic (bio-architecture?) stage style compared to other years. Although I didn't get the half-globe cages used in the back. Also, I think this is the first time in Euro-vision history that rear projectors (I think they're projector because I don't think they're LCD/LED screens) were used in the complete background of the stage. I totally agree about almost every entry being completely butchered this year. It's a shame too, because the studio versions of some of these entries are really good. I really liked Poland, Russia, and Israel's studio version for example.

She was one of my favorites that year, and I've always followed the festival, but the first Eurovision I clearly remember is '99. In 2004 we were watching it me, my father, my godfather, and his two daughters, mothers had gone to sleep. We were all commenting how this shyness of her made the whole performance so cute

Don’t listen to that Jurgen dude. She’s actually a very beloved singer in Albania. Now Anjeza lives in the UK as she married a wealthy ambassador with ties to the aristocracy and wants to dedicate herself to her family more. However her career was far from going “downhill”. Also she still appears in many popular Shows as well.
