Hi. This song was written by Russian singer Vitas when he was quite young. He wrote and performed it with the technique of running up to the note at the beginning of those incredible high notes. So in this case, Dimash is performing the song as written and performed by Vitas, who until Dimash came along, had perhaps the highest falsetto out there. Dimash has a range of 6 octaves + 2 or 3 notes, and his high notes in this are full voice, I agree, not falsetto. He also has an amazing range of whistle notes. So well, what can you say. He blows me away with every song.

the song says the winds are howling for me so he does the sound like the wind... it is so amazing, I liked it before when Vitas sang it, I heard it on a Korean drama and became a fan, Dimash gave it new life...

Hi Chris. I think you already figure it out from the comments that this song was "Vitas" song.. the way Dimash is "sliding" to the high notes that how it was in original song, that is singing the "wind" that from the lyrics of the song. You will see from other Dimash performance that he is not "sliding" to the high notes but perfectly "hitting" note by note.. I don't know the right terms for that, so i used "sliding" and "hitting" I hope you got the idea ))) thanks for your reaction.

Hi Chris, brilliant reaction, yeah its from a Russian rock opera, originally sang by Vitas who threatened Dimash with a law suit if he sang it again, he has sung it more recent than that a few months ago but apparently for a competition Vitas couldn't stop him, just didn't allow him to sing on TV shows, concerts etc. It was obviously a jealousy thing because Dimash goes higher twice more at the end than the original !! 👍👍😊 Btw that clip of your song you played sounded great, will check out more from you.

The song you showed us by yourself sounds amazing, look forward to it coming out. Apparently Vitas (composer & naturally original singer) has asked Dimash to not sing it because he didn’t like the way it was sung. Personally, I feel that Dimash has put so much warmth & soul into it. Especially the different musical instruments.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan, He is in his Twenties, studying Vocal lesson, Instrumental music, perfecting his training since childhood. He has completed in International World Class competition throughout other countries, speaks Russian, Chinese, French, and Italian, English, and sings as well in those languages. His Mother is Chinese, his father is Kazakhstan, Dimash was born and raised there. I would just like to say that in may not be vibrato on the high notes, but more of the vibrations that the opera technique bring into his body - see the head vibrate - it is caused by the resonance of high notes inside the skull when you use good operatic technique and perfect voice placement.

The bonuses to watching the episodes from The Singer besides witnessing Dimash’s amazing vocals and perfect glissando technique are hearing the incomparable orchestra/band (they can be either depending on the song) and seeing the shocked faces of the audience and fellow competitors! The audience members are the judges and are the same 500 people every episode so you will start to recognize them. They may even be the same year after year as I saw many familiar faces watching Dimash’s guest appearance this year. The gentleman that does the fist pump at the end of Dimash’s performance is his dad. If you have a chance, watch the end of the video again but keep going after Dimash is done. His dad surprised him by showing up for this performance. Dimash is thanking the audience, turns, does a double take and realizes his dad is there. It’s so freaking sweet. I love the vocal harmonies of the new song you are working on! Be sure to let us know when are going to post it please.

I was informed that the audience for Singer is different every episode in order to provide as fair a group as possible for judging the competition. There are producers, staff and sometimes friends of the performers that you will see more than once.

alex barry you will also see multiple same faces in the audience for every Dimash episode. I will do more research and see if I got my info wrong. As I said above as well, there were several of the same audience members from 2017 in the audience for Dimash’s performance of Hello this year. Thank you for the info you got Alex!

@@kayrush1706 definitely is 500 different audiences each episode. I checked on weibo the selection process. First everyone will apply online, than there will be at least 3 sessions of phone interview if you are short listed. They are more than 10,000 people apply each episodes and you have to wrote a good essay to show your love to music or what you understanding of music to get a higher chances to get selected. 😂 First episodes are people from Changsa, Hunan; which I saw many post that people are waiting for the confirmation sms. Second episodes onward they select people from all over the country. All expenses by your own self, they only provide one meal before the show. You need to be in the place 4 hours prior to the recording time. It's a real tiring process apparently, that's another reason singer don't want to be at the "First performance" as audience might not overcome from the long waited period. I also know One person flew from Canada for one of the episodes last year. You may apply online if you are interested and willing to fly to the selected episode by Hunan TV. They is slight changes they apply to Singer 2019. The replacement singer usually selected by the professional team; but this year they accept self nomination; many singers nominated themselves on weibo and went to a public poll to won a chance to be able participate in this show. This is the highest standard competition show which many singers want to enter but rejected by the production team.

There are flame wars about exactly what Dimash is physically doing in his upper register. Seriously, I just used google translate to read one between a Vietnamese vocal coach reacting to Dimash and a commenter on the video. Dimash came out of puberty without losing any part of his upper range and his vocal chords are longer than normal. Everything else is a jumble of conflicting words. In some cases the parties seem to be in violent agreement, just using different terms because there isn't a comprehensive standard terminology for describing singing.

If you like high notes, listen to his Diva dance, from movie 5th element..this song was partly done by computer , because it was thought, that no human can sing it..that was until Dimash came along....he is the only male who can sing it.....few female singers tried it but to me their lover register is not as strong...for me Dimash is the best...

You should react to daybreak at the bastau concert! Its my alltime favourite .. the song is also pretty sad, about a 3 year old boy that lost his parents in a car accident, a chinese women whos a singer and songwriter adopted him and wrote a song about this accident out of his perspective. Its so sad!
