Anker 633 MagGo Wireless Charger with Magsafe? Too big to be useful?

Used it for the first time on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and it stopped charging around 70 percent due to over heating. Crazy how warm/hot my phone and battery got while charging. Was surprised how slow it took to charge using MagSafe.

Was that iOS 17? I’ve found my phone CONSTANTLY complains that it’s too hot to charge now - even when in an air conditioned car so I feel this is more of an Apple configuration issue. The heat is normal and MagSafe is a slower form of charging but I do see your concern.

@@HamerReviews Yes, I'm on iOS 17. Purchased the battery pack to get thru a day of heavy use while away from a wall outlet. Although bulky, I intended to just use the Magsafe charging while in my pocket. That doesn't look possible as my phone/battery pack got too hot. Wish I didn't wait so long after purchasing it to finally use it. Otherwise, I would have returned it.

Have been using 633 about two monts now, and can say its fenomenal. It doesnt overheat, can charge mi ip13 twice, and have a flip stand which i use every day while eating. I recommend it definetley over apple one, its cheaper, have more juice, doesnt overheat and have flip stand, awesome device 👍👍

@@HamerReviews yes, overal definetley much better than apple magsafe pack, i think that only thing apple pack doing better is integration with ios, widgets and that stuf, but i personally doesnt care about that, if you want to know much power is left, just look at side of the battey and thats it

Hi Christopher, I’ve enjoyed both the 621 review and this for the 633. After lots of research including your 621 video I decided to go with the Apple MagSafe battery pack. If you have not tried it then I’d really recommend giving it a go. It’s very slim, light, good build quality and has great support in iOS. Very little or no heat when charging. I know the first thought might be that it’s only 3,000mAh or thereabouts (11Wh) but I honestly find this to be perfect to boost the internal battery on my pro max (14) to easily last the day. The benefit of the iOS integration is it hold the phone charge at 90% and discharges the battery pack - preserving the phone’s internal battery lifespan. It’ll do MagSafe charging for AirPods and Qi for other devices with pass through if needed. Bit let down is the port being Lightning so no provision of USB-C or wired charging of other devices but I honestly don’t need to. The phone and AirPods are what I carry with me with the Apple Watch and that’s all. the watch easily lasts the day without a charge. Other electronics that need power could be charged with another small battery pack if needed. I was very skeptical of the Apple pack, but with the recent price drop and availability of some good deals over Xmas I gave it a go and have not looked back. I was lucky in timing and paid £62 for a Like New open box from Amazon (£78 with their additional 20% Warehouse deal) so around that price I think actually represents good value if you can get one. Even £79 isn’t too bad for the ease of use and what it gives you. Compared on paper to an Anker model the Apple is never going to win, but in use I feel it’s the stronger option - for me anyway. Certainly an interesting point, I do find Apple's chargers are so often overpriced but perhaps I'll have to give it a go to compare it.

Quality charger. Been using Anker products for many years and apart from one set of earbuds 6 yrs ago I could not speak more highly of them. This charger is a beast. I got nearly two full charges on my iPhone 14pro. And although they state wireless charging is limited to 7.5W , my phone was charging at 1% per 70-80secs which is way faster than any wireless charger I’ve tried (barring Apples extortion pads). I’ve tried the 622 which is much more compatible and easy to pocket but it seemed to drain way way quicker than I anticipated. Never got a full charger out of it. Maybe 90% a couple of times but I wasn’t too impressed other than the folding stand. Then again, as nice as it is, it felt like it would easily wear after 4-6months of usage whereas the 633 feels like a long time sturdy unit.

What you got out of the 622 sounds about right. It’s half the capacity so you do get a lot less charge. Then due to heat and efficiencies I think you end up with less again. But yes you’re right about the 633 sadly it was just a bit too big for me

It does seem chunky but I think if you’re travelling and going to be using your phone a lot when travelling it seems ideal…ideal Black Friday purchase at £75 though!

Is there any option to turn off the wireless charging while I charge with usb port? Or is it like an automatic? When I turned it on and attach my iphone then it will turn on but if not (and only using the port) it is not turned on?

Another excellent review Christopher! Just curious. What would happen if the 633 is magnetically connected to the iPhone (which charges the phone) & at the same time a cable is connected from the 633 USB C PD port which goes into the phone ? Curious if i could attach it magnetically yet use the PD wired faster charging option. Thank you!

It will charge both your phone and the battery pack.

@@advancedscarecrow Hi. Thanks for your reply. I understand what you said (pass -through charging) but my query was about what happens when the 633 is magnetically on the phone and a cable is run 'from the phone into the battery pack' ? (No wall socket involved)
