One should be able to. It's a normal external USB Drive. Or it should be. Two way copy, two way move, edit, delete, save etc.

I have used fast ssd cards directly and have gotten slow record messages, it will need a super fast sd card and that still might not be enough.

You need an SSD to record ProRes externally. SD cards do not have NEARLY enough read/write speed to handle ProRes

@@TheTrafficBossA V90 card should in theory be fast enough for Pro Res 60 and a V30 card for Pro Res 30. Only Pro Res 120 is impossible with any current sd card on the market. Anker also states so on the product website.

@@wwjoshdewyou should really look in to this answer more. While it can probably record basic video to the SD card, even the fastest SD cards have a write speed of 200-300 mb/s. For reference, USB 2.0/Lightning can send data at 480. While the minimum write speed to record externally in ProRes is 200 mb/s you need 440 for 4K120. So technically the answer is only sort of yes. For reference I have a 2TB MagSafe SSD with read/write speeds around 7GB/s. It makes this Anker SD reader look like a piece of junk.

Plus I can take the sd card out of my dash cam and show/send proof immediately? Get an amazing shot on my GoPro but I don't want to wait 20 minutes for the huge file to transfer wirelessly, when I can do it in just one minute? It's convenient as hell.

This is a useless product. I hate to hate on Anker but only a doofus would buy this thing. They make MagSafe SSDs that will destroy this thing in read/write speed. Why Anker? SD cards are so 20th Century. To be honest I thought it was an Anker MagSafe SSD enclosure and that’s why I’m here. Disappointed! Anker is so damn good sometimes but when they miss, they miss hard. This thing would have been useful like 10 years ago. USBC on the iPhone killed this product before it ever launched….
