I have the same solar panel and same anker 20000mah power bank and let me tell you two years back when hurricane Maria hit us here in Puerto rico. this was my go to tool to charge my battery bank (same one you mentioned) and my galaxy s7 both at the same time. with a good day of sunlight it took about 2 hours to charger my phone and about 5 hours to charge my anker 20000mah battery bank from 0% to 70%. in my case having no electricity for several months this small portable solar panel was awesome!!!! It works!! now keep in mind that I live in the Caribbean where 90% of the time it's sunny. my only complaint is that the pocket has only a very small velcro tab to close it and anything you put in it will fall off example like if you hook it to a fence or tree. in my case I had it hanging from a window and my item where in side the room if you get the idea.

prep 787 5hrs to charge your power bank from 0 to 70%? I recently bought a 25000maH powerbank with its own solar panel and it really won’t charge much? I was thinking of getting this anker solar panel to be able to charge it more/faster but in the video he says, it won’t really work. Can you confirm this solar panel will charge power banks in a couple of hours with full sunlight?

Well the battery bank is 96 Wh and the solar panel is 21W with a max output to one device of 12W. 2 bars corresponds to 24-36 Wh, so getting that in one day is decent considering you get around 3 sun-hours per day in the winter in the Northern US, you're not angled perfectly, overcast conditions, etc. plus the inefficiencies of charging a power bank. You can charge your phone 1.5-2 times in one day with this, you can basically keep it charged non-stop and that's really what it's for, and it works very well for that. It's actually kind of miraculous it can keep a phone charged at this size and price. Solar panels have come a long way.

I had a low battery a few years ago where the battery was just barely under the voltage needed to crank the engine. Whenever I would connect a dash-sized solar panel to the truck for around 10 minutes, I could start the truck where I could not before. They are very useful for this purpose. Saved me a lot of money worth of tows until I could afford a new battery.

I'll still get one or the 15W. In the Caribbean there is serious Sunlight 24/7 and incase of a power outage or Tropical storm/hurricane aftermath, it should be sufficient (as you stated) for charging small items, which can be a life saver. I would also cover the batteries while charging or improvise something to keep that side cooler. Keep up the Great Reviews.

Thanks for the honest review.. I think it's only intended as a survival/last resort product. And I was pissed to discover there's no battery bank included or way to keep it standing up.. but I guess I should have done my research before getting it.

You're way better off hooking these kinds of things into external powerbanks. The batteries they put into the solar/bank devices are dogshit, and the panels often cant even keep up with charging them, and they fail before the panels do. This way you can specifically choose your panel and your batteries, as well as the quality you're aiming for on each. Just a tip.

Protip: You don't want to charge lithium cells below 0c or 32f. Not good for the cell at all.

Very nice review! Thank you. I need a lightweight charger for a 3 week hike this summer in the high Sierra. Based on your review and others I'm guessing it will charge up my cell phone when I get to camp. I will most likely be wearing it while hiking so I will be able to keep my 10,000 mA batter pack charged most of the time. I need something that's durable and reliable. You can't go wrong w/ the brand, even though they are not US based.

Its good to have one of these just in case there is a complete blackout, storms, hurricanes etc....At least the phone it will work when its connected and you can make an emergency call when its needed...I think is a must have...!!!

Thanks for the vide, it help me lotos to be more clear about what to get. But, I think is unfair when you compare this panel solar with others withpual mention the weight because something really important to have in mind is: THIS IS A REALLY LIGHT PANEL SOLAR. Probably you will find better ones, but definitely more heavy. If we talk about the relation between weight/power I think this panel is has the perfect balance on it. I think is more for people who is looking for a panel solar to carry in long distance without a car, just trekking, expeditions.... Thanks anyway for your clear video! Cheers :)

IMO is a emergency charger. Best chucked into a bug out bag and used to keep a phone or other small battery products charged.

It all depends on the angle of the sun, your location, and the time of year. Generally, though, you'd have significantly longer charge time. It still charged when I laid it flat, but I got better results when I tilted it.

I don't understand why this doesn't have a power bank built into it! Then you don't need to charge your power bank during sunlight hours, just charge the internal one (if it had one) and use it later to charge devices once the sun has gone down. Having to charge things as you go, while it has its uses,doesn't really work for KZbin creators like myself who while hiking, rely on the the very devices this would be needing to charge while the sun is out, meaning I can't use them. If Anker added a built in power bank, even a 10,000 Mah then that would be much better. Thanks for the review.

Built in powerbanks brings more cost which wouldn't justify the price... Not to mention an internal powerbank wouldn't last if it's constantly under the sun. Heat causes wear. Not to mention shipping stuff with batteries introduces a whole host of costs and stuff. Its so much better to just seperate the powerbank from the solar panel and allowing the solar panel to last a lot longer for the 18 months warranty

I got one just like that when I was in the military. I'd stuff it away in my ruck and whenever I had a chance I'd pull it out and kept a power bank plugged in. That thing kept my bank topped up enough that I could charge my phone or whatever at night. It worked out pretty well.

Have u tried to use your iPhone or else on low temperature conditions? Low temperatures have influence on energy and batteries. With a 20w solar panel I’ve charged one 20000ma battery in one day, summer time, direct sunlight, from 0900am to 1630pm, battery went from 10% to 100%

Strange. I bought the Anker Power Solar flex 3 port 24w model. I try charging any phone during peak sunlight and the charging sequence is constantly interrupted. Charge on charge off charge on charge off. Every other second it seems. The battery depletes faster when plugged in to the solar panel versus if it was just sitting on its own.

No portable panel ever puts out anywhere near its rated capacity save for at noon in the Summer at high altitude. Even then I have not seen one that offers what its manufacturer claims. Regardless...if your phone is dead in the middle of nowhere its shortcomings matter not. ..you will be glad you have some source of power for charging.

Hi, I am thinking of getting this solar panel for an expedition to the Amazon, and as we use high power UV lamps with 18650 batteries. Do you think this panel would charge 4 2600 mAh batteries at the time? even if it´s only at 60% capacity would be good. I would appreciate any thoughts or input you could give me. Thanks

60% of 2600 mAh battery is 1560, and you have 4 battery so that becomes a total of 6240 mAh. In my testing of this charger you get about 1.8A or 1800 mAh from both the ports. So, if you get good sunlight for at least 4 hours you should be able to charge your batteries to 60% but you should use smallest cable possible and two charger one for each usb port so that the heat loss is less.

In the middle of winter, the sun is low in the sky, and it will put out a lot less than in summer, even if you point the panel directly at the sun. No surprise you were disappointed, but this is not a good example

@@GearNut It's just a bit strange, that the solar charger is capable of charging with 3A and has 21W power capacity, and still could only charge up your powerbank to the second LED in one day. Maybe the sun at winter is not as strong as at summer 🤔 Have you tried to do the same test in the summer?

Decent review, but I think your missing the point. I bought this for a buddy who's a graphic artist, and needs mobile, portable tech. Nothing can beat wall or battery bank charge. I bought this in case he wanted to sketch or photoshop on Remote locations- in a field, a cemetery, sitting at an outdoor Cafe. Maybe camping. His battery bank can supplement the laptop charge, buy this can keep his phone, GoPro, Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and mini-soundbar charged and not tax the laptop charging situation. Maybe a second one might help. But, this product is designed for off-site charging. Or, as you made a great example, use it in the car, while you're at work!

That little 15wat panel is just too small to fully charge that 26mah battery. It would take around 40hrs imo. You gotta get at least an 80watt panel and even on a sunny day you’re still looking at 20hrs to charge it.

8:25 Let's do that math for fun. If you're paying 0.18c per 1 kwh, that means $60 = 333 kwh. The panel can only output 5V x 3A = 15W under very good conditions (you have 21W of cells, so you don't need perfect conditions). So under such conditions, you're looking at 22,200 hours to break even LOL, which is 925 days... however, on average in the US you only get 5 sun-hours per day, so then it would take 4,440 days to break even with this thing generating power non-stop or about 12 years. That's actually better than I expected, and obviously you're not buying it for the economics, you're buying it because it can charge your phone when you don't have access to an outlet. And another fun fact: right now, Tesla is installing solar panels at a cost of $2/watt ($1.50/watt after incentives), so at 21W this is only 1/3rd more, which is actually a pretty good price.

At least they HONOR their warranties with no hassle, unlike most others, so having a new one sent won't be an issue .. I agree w/ you in principal, but China is a major US supplier in almost all markets. It looks like it will remain that way for at least 4-8 years. Can you say you don't buy any products made in China? A brief inspection of most homes would indicate otherwise.
