The add-on screen does exist. It’s $50, I’m not bothering to get one for either of my two M5cs. Their slicer needs a lot of work to be really useful; I use Prusa slicer for anything complicated. I’m very sad to hear about the death of V6. I was hoping against hope that it was going to be my reason to not buy an AMS printer. One of my M5cs keeps eating the stepper motor on the extruder assembly - I’ve been through 3 extruders now, hopefully tech support will agree that it’s not the poor extruder assembly’s fault this time. All that said, i really do like how easy this printer is to use, and I like the prints that I’ve gotten off of them, especially for the cost point.

That add-on screen is just a display - you cannot control the printer with it, so I wouldn't bother with it, either.

With the Ankermake M5 my routine for unloading filament is to heat, extrude just a little, clip it off, and retract. Probably because I had that issue with the blob on the end if it's cold.

This is pretty much my procedure on any printer (let the hotend drop to about 35-40 below it's extrusion temp before pulling though). The added step of doing a "warm" pull just seems worth it to me to avoid the faffing around with shed debris clogging any of the sketchy hot ends in the fleet XD

I used Cetus mk2 printers for many years that had no screen and were wifi connected. Even with my Bambulab printers, I rarely use the screen and refer to the phone or PC app to see how the print is going or to send/resend a print. While the screen is nice for quick reference, it's less necessary if the printer and software have been well thought through.

For loading and unloading filament, a screen is indispensable, IMHO. But I agree, I don't use it much.

Sounds like a nightmare 3d printer for my needs. Number one, I hate using my phone with a 3d printer. The no interface would be another issue, but also my main computer for STL files is a big desktop and about 50ft away...NOPE....This one is just what I do not want in my small 3d printer farm. 🤠

The Anker V6 was canceled, as was briefly flashed at the end. I had backed the M5 + V6 on Kickstarter and honestly I’ve had nothing but disappointment with the machine.

I'm future beginner, looking for a 3d printer that is budget friendly, has own control screen, and works without having a computer or app to make it print, something like the ender 3 but easier too put together and can us a thumb drive or sd

So, bad news, you won't (yet) find one that works without a computer or app. But, good news, there's more than a few that are almost there: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4GzYoStqMRgaLc

thats a nope....... all printers should work entirely on their own. With out a screen, thats a fail. Connecting to your phone, or anything else, should ONLY be option, not mandatory.

This is a big nope for me. After upgrading from my Ender-3 S1 to the Bambu A1, I now know what Just Works means and that ain't it.

Just watched this video. Ive had my M5C for 3 months, never, ever had a single problem. Auto level works flawlessly, load and unload works perfectly, yes its my first and only printer so I dont have any comparrison but for £270GBP you cant go wrong. Dont understand why you've had the problems you talk about here.

I had to unsubscribe to this channel after hearing that you would actually recommend this printer to anyone. This machine sounds like a real nightmare to own for the beginner and advanced 3D community. Did they pay or send you the printer for free in exchange to say some positive things about it? There are so many better printers to own for the same price or less that kill this machine.

Did you actually watch the video? I am so confused by your comment. I don't like ankermake either but people can have different opinions. And did you try one? Anyways. 😂

@@Andre_M_3D what's so confusing??? If the product lacks so many features in comparison to other competitors at the same price, then the answer is simple, it's not a good product for beginners or advanced users. Did you watch the video?????????????????????

I didn't say I recommended this machine. In fact I said, at 11:57, that I don't recommend this printer, *unless* they get that 6 color changer working... which I then follow that up with the announcement that that caveat is dead and burred.
