Anki is available on multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and even your phone. I'll be using the desktop version in this tutorial.
Throughout this walkthrough I'll first cover anki's text and image card cloze features. Then, I'll dive into anki's HTML and CSS customization options, which will allow you to near-fully customize your cards' looks to your liking. Then, I will be covering the basics of anki's "fields"; these allow you to modify the information you can put into your anki cards, and are great for drilling topics that have more than one "information bit" for each card you want to make.

excellent, just bumped into these issue yesterday creating deck for conjugating spanish verbs. i was amazed that after adding fields into note they would not automatically appear on my cards :) i gues code is needed in the cards to pull the fields in. why o why? :)

Yeah it is a bit annoying lol, glad I could help though :) I believe it's set up this way so that we can have multiple ways to "view" the information we're storing/so that we can batch-produce a bunch of different card variations to drill it- It's still in production, but my next video will cover how to implement this with your own decks too!

@@niftion cool, yeah, i now understand it like the 'note' is a sort of database and then you code the 'card' to display only what you want from that database for particular purpose. With 16 or however many tenses/moods in spanish, i don't wanna see them all at once. I am now interested in the technicalities, not a programmer but i can learn to code the simplest things. Looks like Anki cards are coded in CSS (html), is that correct? Thanks for the reply, yeah your vid was definitely helpful, thanks for sharing.

Yeah you've got it! And yep, they're formatted with HTML/CSS. It's one of the easier coding languages to learn so I'm sure you've got it. Check out the website "web3schools" too, it's a great resource for self-teaching HTML/CSS (also for learning other languages beyond them too)

Realized I misspoke in the video, just so you guys know: "occlusion" is pronounced as "occ-lu-shun", not "occ-o-lish-un" ;)
