A precise description of what I experienced when I fall and injured my ankle X-Ray at A & E didn't show any problem. That week I was due to see a Rheumatologist for a different problem on the same foot. My foot swelled so badly that she couldn’t examine me and suggested to go back to A&E for MRI. At A & E I was told that they do MRI when there is a trauma. My GP sent me for MRI. Which showed a fracture inside my L ankle behind the lateral malleolus. It took me almost 5 weeks to know what was wrong with my foot.

This is exactly my experience and after being bumped around from X-rays, to fracture clinic, to A&E because my GP refused to refer me for a scan. I ended up paying for private physio who told me I needed a scan. 10 weeks later I was diagnosed with two torn ligaments.
