Well thought out as per the practical use of the heel position. Excellent!

Yes yes yes! I always tell people learn to let the pedal do what it is engineered to do. The springs bring the beaters back after the rebound, but ALSO send the beater forward if you let the beaters sway back past the neutral position. It actually helps speed AND power. Another drummer to watch demonstrate this is George Kollias.

So what muscles should I feel during this motion? Both calf and shin ?

You should feel less of both muscles by letting the pedal springs do more of the work.

I like to heel up. It's more powerfull and isolated. Plus you can use leg's weight

There is a difgerence between both techniques. With heel down motion, you need to push on the upper part of pedal and 100 degrees angle. But for heel up, you need to push in heel block section of pedal (30-40% of long board length) and 80-90 degrees angle. Heel up has much more power to me, because you have static presure on pedal in you toe. This presure gives you not musculs, but weight of full leg. It's like full leg motion, but in static. You just standing on your toe, but you shaking your heel, up and down

I just cant play with too low spring tension. Ankle motion is much easier but with stronger spring tension it helps much more with full leg motion because the pedal will push the leg back up. I got some back problems and when the pedals do not support my legs than my back compresses and it's Instant fuck up. The result of wrong methods for too long.
