This was the first DVD of Freestyle Dressage to music that I watched as a kid, cleaning my tack as I did.., when Anky and Salinero came on the screen, I knew something special was about to happen. That performance changed my life, and whenever I watch it, I well up with tears. Anky was my favourite rider back then, and she inspired me to be a better dressage rider. Thank you so much for uploading this video!!

ever since i started working at a dressage barn with grand prix horses, i have a totally new respect for this. it is so much harder than it looks, and the horses are so finely tuned, any wrong move of your hand or leg, and the horse does something defferent. it is amazing. i got the opportunity to ride a Grand Prix stallion, and it was amazing. this video is great

Really come to love Keltec Salinero... something about him reminds me a lot of Nissan Gigolo-- probably the fact that he wins all the time ;) They had an absolutely INCREDIBLE performance at the WEG'06 games.

I could do half of what she is doing. But it will never be as perfect as this. Its just that Anky and Salinero have the most special bond with eachother. Hes actually not made for Dressage. He was bred for Show Jumping. Yet he was super sensibel. The perfect horse that everyone wants to have. Now lets hope she gets far with IPS Upido. I think she will.

Keltec was amazing. he missed the beat a bit but who's counting! He looked like he enjoyed it as well. I love this horse!

Firsty, Hyperflexion is never used on some horse who is randomly pulled out of the paddock. They dont pull some random horse out and crank his nose to his chest. Other wise yes, the horse would be injured. The horses are those who have been in work years, theyre extremely strong, theyre extremely fit and extremely supple. Therefore the horse is able to put himself and flex himself into such positions completly at ease.

I agree with SuperstarShelby, it's also really hard for the rider to give all commands. This summer I didn't ride for about 2 weeks, when I came back on the horse my legs hurt for like 9 days! And I'm even a beginner!

I do agree with you at some points. I don't think she tied Salinero's feet together, and Salinero doesn't really looks like he's being mistreated but when you watch other dressage video's it's quite obvious Salinero doesn't look as relaxed or happy compared to most of the horses. And yes, she does get the "Anky Points". To be honest, I am Dutch but at the olympic games I watched her and I wanted to win someone else so bad...

GO ANKY!!!! As for the negative comments, well I say to those people, read some books and study the "ART" of dressage. Do you really think with a panel of world class judges sitting there watching her and her horses every move, they would mark her the way they do if that horse was in ANY type of pain or discomfort. How many Olympics have you people been too?

If you've ever riden a horse at that level you wouldn't have an imaculate position either. It's amazing how little her body does move. I had the oppertunity to ride a horse with the same level or training as Keltec this year and my body was all over the place. I'm not as skilled as a rider as Anky, but I am good enough that I usually am as still as stone. However, horses that move like that may look smooth, but being in controll you can see how harsh the movements feel.

Yes, Anky and Salinero is number 48. Isabel is 1st with Warum nichts and isabel is second with Satchmo. The reason anky and salinero are 48 is because anky missed many competitions from having her baby. But it doesnt matter what number they are. They are all champions.

And where is my proof? Take a look at the oldest hyperflexed horse today. Anky's Bonfire was ridden with hyperflexion from the age of 4 until the age of 17. Thats 14 years of hyperflexion in his training. He is now 25 years of age and he is still be ridden today by anky in a snaffle bridle. That horse is not broken down, he is still today extremely fit. Take a look at all the hyperflexed horses.. nothing wrong with any of them! thats my proof. :)

Minga90ame - Why do people not understand how Anky trains and rides? Its clear that she is one very talented rider, if she was so bad, she would not win everything there is to win. Kyra Kirklund hates the way Anky trains, but whos the better rider? Whos the rider who continues to get top place at every competition? Not Kyra! Anky has made dressage alive, she is what keeps me going, and she has taken dressage to highest. People who cannot see this and choose to critisize, are simply jelous.

Of course i dont think its all about fame and being popular :) But you have to realize, to be popular, you have to do alot of work, and years of hard work. Getting the horse prepared e.c.t And that in itself isnt easy. Anky does it because she loves it. To be honest, i dont think you know the first thing about hyperflexion or anky and her horses. I can prove anything you want me too. Go right ahead and ask.

I love anky and she is a brilaint rider and whoever has the guts to bag her out need to get a life because i dont see you winning the world equestrian games or even better the olympics.

And i never sid she BEATS them , not enough to have scars, you have ot hit a horse quite hard to leave a scar with a whip, but apparently she did tie his feet together. Im not saying shes a bad rider-either way shes incredible.

There is also a website that shows that ankys horses where tested by a vet and it was proved that nothing was wrong with her horses. Not to mention a harmed or abused or a horser in pain, wouldnt win several olympics, 3 world cups and 2 world equestrian games.. not to mention this has been acheived on not only one modern dressage horse but MANY. here is my proof, and if you cant take the truth thats you completly at fault. Could you do better? My god... This is the highest level you could ever ride. P.s if you have spurs on it doesn't say you have to use them, even with spurs you can ride your horse on your calves (without using your spurs every two seconds).

also continual spurring in frowned upon in dressage as it dulls the horses sensitivity to the leg aids, which is the opposite of what you want in a dressage horse. A horse that is well trained by a sensitive rider doesn't need spurs so it won't get legs aids confused, spurs are totally unnessacery

Spanish Riding school is a bit more difficult. Its a Traditional kür that they do, Anky is doing it cuz of competition. Her horses cant do a Levade by thereselves. And Anky said in a interview:" This is only half of the real horse Riding. There will always be something to learn.". The Spanish Riding school is a place to show the power of horse Riding, and the riders there need to only sit on theyre horse for almost 2-3 years till the "Real" Basics begin. We can begin with Riding after Idk.. 2-4 lessons on the leach, i think its clear that Spanish Riding school is a bit more difficult.

no, it doesn't. a truely skilled rider would have a horse go off of the slightest of cues, I think spurs and ouble bridles should be banned from dressage as perhaps this would allow for people who rely on such gadgets to fall away from the top and allow for those who have no need for them to start to do half pie decently. Spurs are handy to get a horse to react faster or lift his feet higher but that doesn't make it right, or nessacery.

i hate anky. She is a good rider, but she is so violent. Did you know that when she was training Salinero to do piaffe she tied his hind feet together so that he wouldn't move? Yeah, i think its cruel. She uses whips alot, and now, in competitions, she can screw up and they will still giver her points because A) Shes still a good rider and B) because all the judges already know her and she is automatically in the finals which is unfair to other riders who had a chance with her. I thnk its unfair

Because all the problems are caused by people who don't know what they're doing. If Anky was abusing her horses she wouldn't have been dutch-, european-, world-, and olympic champion several times on different horses...

Isabel is n't great yes Isabel did win from Anky with the Grand Prix but Anky has a GREAT come back with Salinero en did win from Isabel with the world cup! so who is better!?! I can tell you... Anky van Grunsven Is the Best one and she is my Idol and she rides for the Netherlands and I live there and she is just the BEST one better than you,me,evreybodey! so just SHUT UP oubout Anky van Grunsven cause she's the best and nobody else can defeat her!
