Great comparison! I like that you compared them with the tone on full. They definitely have a similar voice but I preferred the KOT. As you say, it sounds more musical overall.

Thanks Ravi! I do think it's important to check out the full range of what a tone control can do on pedals. Nothing worse than wanting more in a gig and not being able to get it! haha! The BB sounds great, and I love it but yeah, the KOT just wins for me. It's the same kinda voice but a little rounder in the low end and it has a lot more volume on tap.

I prefer the BB because it has less knobs. HA HA Seriously tho i do like the harshness of the Bluesbreaker in the higher gain settings but obviously the KOT is a lot more versatile.

The BB is great when you put it infront of a Marshall style amp. Especially if it's a darker amp. The combination of the darker amp with the bright pedal is amazing. The KOT technically is just two pedals in one. Rather than seeing it as a 6 knob pedal, just see is as two 2 knob pedals haha!

I assume you had the yellow side in the stock “boost” setting? Makes a significant difference as you crank the gain depending on what gain structure is selected. When run in OD or DIST mode, I think the KOT excels very well as a mid/highish gain pedal, especially stacked, whereas a traditional BB type is more of a low gain thing. The KOT is also more versatile cuz it almost works like a tube screamer when running into a gainy amp.

I believe I had it set on the boost mode, probably did. I can’t actually remember cause I shot this video about a year ago, but I don’t believe I ever changed it. I don’t even recall if I’ve ever changed it, maybe I just left it as it was?! Haha. I got the high gain mod on the red side but I didn’t compare that because that obviously changes it a lot

Hey Jack! I’ve not personally noticed it feeling spongey, I guess that depends on the way you run it or the amp it runs into. I use it fairly low gain into a clean amp so it’s pretty tight sounding. When you crank it into a Marshall style amp it can get a little spongey, but no different to how a Marshall style amp feels cranked anyway.
