Jezebel. Jezebel. If ever the devil was born, Without a pair of horns It was you, Jezebel, it was you. If ever an angel fell, Jezebel, It was you. Jezebel, it was you. If ever a pair of eyes, Promised paradise. Deceiving me, grieving me, Leavin' me blue. Jezebel, it was you. If ever the devil's plan, Was made to torment man, It was you, Jezebel, it was you. 'Twould be better I had I never known, A lover such as you. Forsaking dreams and all, For the siren call of your arms. Like a demon, love possessed me, You obsessed me constantly. What evil star is mine, That my fate's design, Should be Jezebel? If ever a pair of eyes, Promised paradise. Deceiving me, grieving me, Leavin' me blue. Jezebel, it was you. If ever the devil's plan, Was made to torment man, It was you, Night an' day, every way. Oh, Jezebel, Jezebel, Jezebel. Explanations Meanings Share Email Print Correct LikeTwee

When you go back to other singers after watching this, others seem to be pulling a plough when she flies like an albatross! hope she'll have a few songs in French sometime too, we don't have artists like her here.
@sonicwingnut13 жыл бұрын
Noticed a few people gettin sensitive about comparisons but personally I wouldn't worry. It definitely reminded me of PJ Harvey on "There Will Never be a Better Time" on Desert Sessions, but it's in no way derivative. Calvi has an amazing voice and she's a damn good guitarist to boot. It can certainly stand on it's own, any comparisons to frankly brilliant artists are merely a compliment.

@MariannaNimega If you really think this, you should see "Rider To Sea" which better demonstrates not only her competence as a guitarist, but also her original circular strumming technique which produces a harp-like sound. Jezebel is a cover and she hasn't really strayed too far from the original, but I personally don't think it's necessary for every song to showcase her guitar playing in order for it to be considered 'good'.

Never heard of the girl until iTunes put her on album of the week or something. I downloaded the album and it's kicked me in the throat with its greatness. It's like hearing Goldfrapps "Felt Mountain" again for the first time. Not that I think it sounds anything like "Felt Mountain", it's because I've never heard anything like this. It's like listening to a cowboy film, where as "Felt Mountain" was like listening to a Hammer horror film. Whatever. Just get this album. You'll love it.

@jefflaurents - What do you want? She does a completely different version to Frankie Lane. If a modern artist is doing a cover, I'd rather they do their own interpretation than do a carbon copy of the original just to satisfy people who miss the point. As for saying she is "weak", try listening to the original "dramatic and fiery" version again because Calvi's vocal range and projection is far more powerful. This is also a live performance and you're comparing it to Lane's studio recording!!?

@chrisspitzman =as there seem to be very few women who sing in this vocal range it is great to hear another. ...and as Anna is covering the incredible Edith Piaf who sang in this range long long ago (listen to the clip Edith Piaf - Jezebel..or the infamous one of the greatest torchsongs of all time=La Vie en Rose) so she may be influenced by Siouxsee who probably was influenced by Edith too. Thank goodness for Edith & Siouxsee and..esp since those 2 arent active anymore..Anna. Brava ladies!
