Same for many others, I fell for Anna Clyne's music with her Within Her Arms. It is pretty striking to see all the variety of emotional range in her music over the years. i love how Anna Clyne is brutally honest with who she is, and refuses to fall into the trap of creating music for the sake of complexity to please the intellects. If she feels like writing music with tonality, she goes for it without a shadow of a doubt. For example, this concerto is arguably not as "complex" as Salonen's newly written cello concerto in terms of form, harmony and orchestration. But the emotional depth, musicality and overall listening experience is just as incredible, and frankly speaking, thats all it matters in music.
