Came across the word ‘oud’ that was unknown to me so searched and ended up here! So glad I found this page! As a Caucasian with corresponding tastes this was a real eye-opener. We’re never too old to experience other cultures and their music. A gratifying journey! ❤

This music reminds me of the time I lived near Istanbul, Turkey during the 60's. It is modal based upon the many ragas of Mother India.

I wish I lived in Istanbul in the 60 's as well. You must have stories to tell!

Based on Abd al-Qadir al-Maraghi school that actually came from Iran, not India.

People give way too much credit to India.... you do realize the concept of scales and modes is universal, right?

Its the music is around 1500 ? Or the poem ? And the title of the poem is ghom ajam?
@TahaMorshedzadeh2 күн бұрын
The musical piece is called "Ghome Ajam", composed around 1500 by an anonymous Persian composer; Poem is "Pir-e Meyforoosh" (meaning the wine-selling elder) from Hafez, from the 1300s.

And Turkish (Didem), German (Johanna), Palestinian-Syrian (Fahmi & Rami), and Canadian (Patrick) - Kiya and Hamin are Iranian. Both Accademia and Constantinople are truly international and timeless in spirit and composition.

This is Ottoman Palace music!!! Ottoman music of the period was too influenced by Persian music.
