During WW2 my grandfather was forcefully recruted into the german army when they occupied Belgium and send to Ukraine. He told me once before his passing that he only survived because of the kindness of the Ukrainian people that fed him despite beeing the occupier. He would otherwise have starved to death. I never forgot his words. I am almost 48 now, all my holiday money since 2022 went to Ukraine and I am a monthly recurring doner to Nafo69. I do all y can with my ressources to help and it feels really good. Seams history still connects some of us to Ukraine. Kind Regards from Belgium

Thank you Jonathan and Anna. Trying to get Trump to like Ukraine and dislike Russia would be a mistake-he doesn’t care about those things. What matters to him is his reputation first and money second. Ukraine and Europe should play to his vanity, convincing him that he’ll look weak if Russia gets to keep any of the land it has seized. He should fear being blamed and mocked when-not if-Russia breaks any deal he tries to broker.

“Defenestration” was actually coined by the Czech people as it was our favourite way of getting rid of corrupt officials who were working against the people; defenestrations often sparked major revolutions in the Czech lands in the medieval and early modern period, like the Hussite proto-reformation and wars, and the 30-year war. Russia stole the method, but like everything with Russia, they just perverted it: instead of it being the tool of the oppressed against the corrupt, it became the tool of the powerful and corrupt. Btw, fantastic conversation and guest. And it makes me so glad that you went to Ukraine and are spreading how fantastic it is, Jonathan, well done and keep the good work, thank you!

The Ukrainian way of writing Kyiiv versus Russian Kiev attributes also to the pronounciation. I am not a native Swedisch speaker but I am pretty sure you speak the "e" different than in English. Kyiiv has a double Swedish i like the last sound in Chemie but shorter. Johnatan dit not pronounce it right but Anna was to polite to correct him.

Some words just “taste” good. Defenestration is one of them. The act of throwing someone out of a window. From Wikipedia: The term was coined around the time of an incident in Prague Castle in the year 1618, which became the spark that started the Thirty Years' War. A lifelong reader of history and everything else. I only learned defenestration in the past 5 or 6 years, but once I knew it it always brings a smile. I’m getting bloody-minded in my senior years, I suppose. Thank you Jon and Anna, you never disappoint. Slava Ukraini!

😂 Yeah don't feel bad Jonathan. I've been having a particularly difficult time with pronunciation of _Kyiv_ and that particular word that Anna mentioned was being used as a sort of "password" to separate some native Russian speakers from Ukrainians, which if I remember correctly refers to some bread dessert. I can't remember the exact word, but she'd remember it. I think it starts with a 'p' sound. She spoke about it on her channel publicly already; so, it's not really a secret as she explained her channel is constantly being trolled by 'Poons' (Putin's goons) & fishnets trying to net $ by posting faked versions of her bona fide posted content with DMs or telegram invites from scumbags trying to get cash by pretending to be her... Anyhow, I love both of your casts and channels as you are helping to keep Ukraine in the forefront of people's minds, especially in America with all the other issues fighting for top story news cycle slots. People are gravitating to internet news cycles, which the algorithms for those services are picking up what stories are sent to people. We all need to determine how to get latest stories flashed to people with good title word choices or story names for snippets for Ukraine. Not only will that help get the information on Ukraine to the audiences, but can be extremely effective for countering misinformation being prosecuted by the Russian government as part of their hybrid war actions and responses.
