I really think the answer to Robin's questions of "Why?" should have been something along the lines of if Faison had not come back and taken Anna, then they would have had many happy years together. They make it sound like they were always at each others' throats, and while they would snipe at each other, they were not at each other constantly. They were best friends as well as the loves of each others lives.

I love his line "Anna Devane still takes my breath away" because if you know their history, it's SO TRUE. That's why I love their first ever meeting in Sean Donely's office. As soon as he turned around and saw her, he couldn't speak. Other parts of this are not true...if you know the history. Robert and Anna rarely sniped at each other and if they did, they apologized and moved on. They were incredibly close friends, had an amazingly deep bond, and were very supportive of each other. Their second marriage showed how compatible they were... and when Anna got kidnapped and Robert went after her, they were still very much in love. Not sure where this whole "we couldn't live together" thing came from...

Ok Ive been playing catch up with the whole 06 return(thanks to Iraq) but I must say that I don't like how they made RS a jerk and a dead beat dad. Sure R had his moments but he was a good guy. I can remember that he did any and everything for AnR when they were together or not. As for the Duke debate; there is none R is THE MAN!

Amina James That's because although Robin was born in Italy she was raised first in NYC then Port Charles. Anna is British and Robert Australian.

It's funnier when you know she has a British mother, an Australian father, had a Scottish stepfather, and an Italian grandmother all with heavy accents and all who had a big part in raising her during her formative years. But she grew up in NY and I'm guessing she took on the American accent of the kids her own age.

Guza was making Robert look like an idiot during the Markham Islands story: deadbeat dad (not true at all) panting after Holly (who they portrayed as a desperate slut) in competition with Luke (who IS actually a deadbeat to Lulu). Not a good look for one of my favorite characters... I DO think Robert is arrogant. He's not stuck-up though... Anna is definitely stubborn. I think occasionally she could be stuck-up and a tease, but not often enough to be a regular part of her character. Guza also made Robin a humorless bore. I mean, I think it's just safe to say that the modern era has done a number on all of the vets, Robert and Anna included...

So either Anna is lying to Robert here or she lied to Duke Lavery. I'm gonna have to go with the former since it is another fact that Anna and Robert's relationship was based on lies from the start and they continued to be incapable of being truly open and honest and emotionally available with each other. That's why this scene seems real and powerful: It encapsulates their effed-up-edness.

the writing on the show is so bad, it's all exposition. it's like "this is what we want to say" and they say it in a way where nothing is subtle. It's how I would have written scenes in junior high. when you compare their scenes with the scenes from the 80s, you just know there is such talent on the stage, but not in the writing.

I think differently than most people on the subject of Robert/Anna. I do believe that Duke was Anna's true love. Robert on the other hand...I believe he has loved a number of women and I am not sure that he can pin-point one as his true love. I know most would say Holly and if not Holly than Anna. I believe Robert is one of those character's meant to go through life alone...floating in and out of loves.
