I JUST picked this up off of a FB group (it was quite a steal of a deal!!!) and I wasn't sure how to work the plate system, if it was worth the money and if I should even spend the low amount that I did. Thanks so much for sharing. I just finished watching and I saw you using the narrow Trimmings Scallop Border Cut & Emboss Folder. I bought the same thing. When I saw that it didn't emboss properly, I got a little nervous. I have the Gemini Jr. and immediately put it though the machine and it embossed perfectly with just the folder and the two plates on Recollections 65 lb paper. If you're having problems embossing perhaps you should get an exchange because there may be something wrong with it. But, I was glad to see it cut and embossed perfectly for me. I'm loving your videos and just subscribed. You're showing us real world stuff with what we would be doing. Much appreciated.

I have osteo all over. I love the Empress, too. My thumb on my right hand just kept dislocating until it just disconnected. I could not use the hand, so had surgery. I did not have it fused, so it was a tad complicated and painful, but eventually, i was glad i had it done.

I just got mine today ,too..got to cut about 4 dies with it and I didnt have to push at all like Anna did ....it went thru like butter, altho I only got to try her couple dies I bought, but the fretwork one does not fit on her magnetic mat...just like the big magnetic mat,I will have to add another strip of magnet. the hole to take the die thru is big enough ,but she skimps on the magnetic width ....I actually added a strip of magnet to her big magnetic sheet to fit some large dies thru the empress... it worked great !!

You are too kind and too funny!! LOL! Dies, especially thin metal dies, are interchangeable. They don't have to the machine's specific brand. Even cheap chinese dies work well. You can use what you already have and avoid praying to the Lord for forgiveness for lying about buying more stuff! LOL!!!

I'm glad I came across your old video. I got the mini out yesterday and she does not want to cut thru dies. I see that happened on 1 of the dies and the embossing could be shimmed too. I want to use her to cut my Stitchmas dies 🎉 I guess I'm going to have to shim her up until she cuts. Maybe I'll cut one of the SB shims to fit her if the metal shim isn't enough 🤔

Great video, thank you! The Empress carrier and cover may be pricey however i ordered one to check the pair out. They are beautifully made and fit perfectly with extra room in the carrier to pack the plates and with room for 8 or so thinlit dies tucked on the side. It was a surprise on the upside in terms of sturdiness however given AG’s high standard for quality, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Thank you, DL

I have the Gemini and LOVE IT!! I don't like the fact that you have to hit start each time on the mini. Also the machine doesn't stop running till you take the plates out. Thanks for the demo on the cut and emboss borders. That didn't emboss very well. Glad I didn't get them. Happy Crafting!

Hello, I did get the Empress Mini I don't have any Geminis, but in the instructions it shows adding the Metal Shim to the sandwich for Embossing Folders. I think she just didn't see that. Maybe you don't need it for the regular size Empress. I just wanted people to know that my Embossing came out beautifully with the Mini. Maybe a larger electric machine will be in my future. I'll remember you love the Gemini.

I've been playing with the mini Empress and I am sorry to say I am not impressed. My Gemini cuts and embosses much better. I noticed on tbe instructions the sandwich shown and the sandwich written don't mach. It is the one for embossing the dies. Am I the only one who is underwhelmed with the mini?

Awesome video you can also cut down A self healing mat and use it between the two plates and never ruin your plates or buy or replace plates ever again works awesome I tried it already just an idea if you want to try it

A lot of people are saying that works great. I bought some small self healing mats at Daiso, and they are literally the best size to go into the Junior or Empress...for $1.50 and I won't have to cut them. I'll try it later.

That's a tough one. They are all different sizes. My every day go to has been the Gemini Junior, but for larger things I bring out the Empress (even though I have the big Gemini). I'll probably keep little Miss Mini on my table to use more often.

Oh, i am bummed! I really wanted to watch and comment as soon as you posted, but I was watching right before bed and I fell asleep 8 minutes in. But this is such a cute machine, man I would love something like this if it was sold in Europe. The only two things I would have hoped, was that the frame embossing folder was a die, it would have been so pretty if it has some cutouts on the frame too, and I would like the edge one to be in two sizes so you could make a top edge without having to but most of the spikes shape away. It would be awesome if the strip border ones could come together to make a frame...I guess we can use an exacto to try and make that happen. That would have been lovely for the little frame...if it were a die. It's probably cheaper for the work to be done by plastic as opposed to making a full die. TY!

Hi V! I just found your channel and love your honest in-depth vids! You really got me into Anna Griffin products! I love this mini die cutter- but can’t really justify the purchase- it’s limited to only 4.5” width dies when the full size empress cuts that size and larger up to 8” or so.. I personally have a vagabond II which also cuts up to 6” width dies- so if I were to justify purchasing the mini - maybe you can shed some light as to why it’s needed- it is so damn cute! I can see myself maybe getting the full size empress because it cuts wider dies than what I am able to do now but do many manufacturers make dies over 6” wide? Thanks so much for all your help! Keep the vids coming. I like reviewers who keep it real!! ❤️

It is smaller than the Junior. If I only had a smaller machine, my next machine would be a bigger one. You can always put small dies on a big machine but not the other way around.

What is the difference between the difference between the empress embossing plate to the Gemini embossing plate? I bought Anna Griffin dies and cut my Gemini embossing pad into. Any help would be appreciated

I'm not sure what you mean. The difference in the size or thickness of the plates? I couldn't possibly measure the thicknesses, and I don't know the dimensions off the top of my head. If you actually cut into the rubber embossing mat so tightly that it cut through...then you have too many shims in the "sandwich." All thin metal dies are interchangeable, you just have to use the correct layers in the sandwich.

@@VianneyCreates I followed the directions to just cut first then went back to emboss and followed instructions but cut through the embossing pad. I tried a second time and removed the plastic shim to loosen and still cut through my pad. I watched a utube with MayMay on this same problem someone else was having and she cut her pad also. I guess I’ll keep trying till I get it right. Thank you for your time

Yeah, if you already have one big guy, I wouldn't get another one. The junior is great because it's not huge and does the job for almost all of my dies.

I have the full size Gemini. LOVE IT. I am thinking about getting the plates fir the Junior and using them for my smaller faster cuts. Sara does it ALL the time. I'm not too impressed with the mini. It's quite a bit larger, I don't have the exact measurements...but the EMpress can cut much larger than the Junior.

They are different machines int act the Junior is almost a full size machine. So, I would prefer the Junior. The mini...with a 4" or so cutting capability, is really great for a small machine.

It's hard for me to decide, but I really don't like the fact that you have to hit that run button. That's annoying to me. Is the Gemini auto loading feature patented or something? The technology is there, so why didn't she use it? Just my thought. I would also cut into the magnet and keep the plates clean. It's getting rippled with the design anyway, so I would just replace that one when it gets worn. I am using an OLFA cutting mat in place if my plastic shim in my Gemini jr. and after hundreds of cuts, I'm still using the same mat and my plates are as clean as new and no warping. It has been over 3 months and it's still going strong.

Yeah, it's usually around $159. If you haven't signed up with CC and Club Inspire, when you do they give you 20% your first order...and you can use it on everything! So, the Junior would be like $129. Keep an eye out for their bundle deals.

Um, I don't know. If you can return the Go, maybe consider that. However, the Mini is now higher in price than the other day. Maybe wait until it goes a little cheaper, but in the meantime you'd be out of a cutting machine. They are both good machines, just different plate sizes is all.

Hmmmm, that's a great question...the only problem I see right now is that most of CC's folders are 5x7. The new little ones should work, I don't see why not. The 3D folders are about as thick as the cut and emboss folders I used, so I think they would work.

Maybe I'm reading this incorrectly, but the embossing folders should go by themselves between two A plates. Maybe the metal shim, too, if the embossing is weak. It sounds like you're saying to use all the plates plus the rubber mat and the embossing folders. That won't work at all,

That is bad that the Empress Mini does not cut the whole intricate die. I always use my metal shim on intricate dies. Let’s hope that is the answer. I did not pick it up. I do use my regular Empress all the time. I never use my Big Shot any more.

I got this and I ordered both carry bags with dust covers. They are of extremely good quality. I got them because I go to Florida for the winter season and carry my empress in its box (that wears after a few trips). I am getting ready for my trip and packed them in the totes and the dust cover fits over machine in tote....very good protection 🤗 and yes a little pricey but good protection ❤️❤️❤️. I also have the Gemini but I don’t even use since I got my empress.
