Problem is, in some instances, the issue is out of the control of we the people. My local high school banned junk food from the school cafeteria and within a year a Timmies, a Subway and a convenience store serving pizza and fries opened up across the street. Now when I drive by at lunchtime, I see long lines at these places. The school suffers because it's not moving as much product as it used to to help pay for the school's other expenses which in turn means the students suffer... How does one battle that?

What about people that are in poverty and are forced to eat only fast food, with store prices rising along with other items making it impossible to buy stuff? Like what if for example, your oven was broken, a vital part of cooking. And because of the stock prices rising, I couldn’t afford to buy a new one? Am I still wrong for buying and eating only fast food, and the diabetes asthma cancer and high blood pressure I get in the future my fault? Make it make sense. It shouldn’t be children being the victim for wanting fast food. What about adults? Adults have bank accounts and jobs and are more able to buy fast food. Our parents can say no and that’s it, but what about the parents? Who struggle with disorders and self control, buying all this fast food? Not everyone is rich and famous and can afford to buy all the cooked broccoli they want. Ever thought about the people who have to have their money do to bills and not enough money for it? Ever think about the poor? Naw I’m joking lmao

Excellent message - Between the fast-food pop-ups and the food deserts it becomes nearly impossible for kids to have access to healthy nutrition. It's a full time job as a parent to monitor what kids see and buy. Time to level the playing field on burgers vs broccoli.

I think some of you are missing the point. It's not about being a good parent, as most of us are not with our children 24/7. It is more to the issue of specifically targeting children in ads and saturating every media format with proven psychological techniques that in fact do manipulate the thought process of easily influenced young people. In no way does what corporations do remove the onus of parental supervision as it relates to both food and monitoring children's media usage habits, but unless you've been under a rock or expect that every child will be completely shielded from said ads, clearly reality and the way it should be doesn't always occur, and the effects are manifested in a myriad of health issues. If you listened, you'd see the speaker is not advocating banning fast food and heavily processed foods, but merely advocating for greater responsibility on the part of media and corporations, and encouraging parents to have a greater awareness, which I'm not sure how that can be construed as a bad thing.

Well done, what's important from this video - I think - is that that unhealthy food is sold because of quasi-fraudolent marketing-strategies. Touching upon the vulnerable psycologies of children: how can goverments free tollerate such horrible conducts?

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the ad overall. but you can't misinform people and then expect them to make informed decisions. If they're going to make statements, and they want to be taken seriously, they need to make accurate scientific statements. If they had said 'partially hydrogenated soybean oil' or just 'soybean oil' that would have been far more impactful. if she had said 'high fructose corn syrup' instead of 'sugar' that would have been much more accurate.

I stopped listening when she vilified saturated fat. The real problem are the vegetable oils, the polyunsaturated fats used in fast food. Saturated fat is healthy, PUFA's are. I'm not even going to get into sugar. The problem is that this ad is making a blanket statement about several types of food components and ignoring others. Sugar in the right context is something the body can process without problems (fruit vs high fructose corn syrup). In principle I agree with the ad however.

I think this video is great, as I pursue a masters in nutrition. Thanks for making it! This video is talking about children, 12 and below. 5 year olds that don't have a developed mind to make conscious food choices. The don't comprehend moderation, sales pitches or what a calorie means. Great you lost weight, I did too, but I suspect your past the age of 12 though. If you think it conflicts with the first amendment I suggest taking History again.
