5:46 There's a corner of the white house you see on the far left side of the frame, the house used to be owned by my late mother-in-law. Its name was Seagrape Cottage, 601 Gulf Drive South. I spent many an evening on that porch watching passersby and enjoying a cigar. Some awesome memories of vacations to AMI. There's no place like it.

We really are spoiled with all of the beaches here. We often take the for granted and tend to appreciate the beaches more in other places that offer more hills and mountain backdrops. But there's no doubt that Florida beaches offer some of the longest stretches of beautiful soft sand that we have ever seen.

Bean point looks incredible! We love walking to the end of a beach where it’s quiet with no other sound than the squeaky sand and waves! 🌊 the sand on all these beaches looks beautiful even if they’re not all squeaky 😅

I love that there are so many beaches it's difficult to keep track of them! I didn't know that squeaky sand meant it was really fine - I need to visit some Florida beaches. It's really nice when there are beach bars, restaurants and other amenities close by. Looks like there were plenty of spots on all of the beaches. The sunset was beautiful!!

I honestly didn't make the connection either until Skylar said something about the sand squeaking. But there's only a couple other beaches where we have experienced this and they both had extremely powdery sand. So we're pretty convinced that squeaky sand makes for a great beach!

Yeah, we have pretty much become experts on beach sand lately 😅 Honestly any sand that doesn't hurt to walk on is fine with us, but the extra powdery squeaky sand is our favorites!

love this video. It was made a few months after I was there in july 2021. Love Anna Marie Island North beach. That day I got to watch a thunderstorm hit Tampa and I was well away in safety enjoying the blue/green ocean. Magical.

Thanks so much! It really depends on the time of week and time of year. This time of year on a week day you may still be able to find a spot at 9 or 10 AM, but on the weekend you'd likely have to arrive even earlier.

Yeah cold and rain does not sound too fun right now. I always enjoyed fall in the midwest, but we love this time of year in Florida too. The normal high is now in the low to mid 80s and we can finally feel the humidity starting to drop, so it's actually comfortable to do things outside other than going to the pool or the beach!

I’m looking out the window and it is 20° and snowing here in NH. We came across your videos of Anna Maria Island, and convinced us that we want to visit there this year. What time of year were your visits? We got a kick out of all the restaurants y’all hit! Looked like a lot of fun!

We feel for you, Charles! We were recently up in Iowa and experienced both sub zero temperatures and a couple feet of snow on the ground. We enjoyed it for a couple of days, but were happy to be back in Florida! We've visited Anna Maria Island in every month of the year. Our favorite time to visit is when it's least busy (when kids are in school) and the water is still warm, which is anywhere from late August through mid-October. April/May are really nice times to visit also. Obviously the weather is great in the winter months (lower humidity and not much rain), but it will likely be quite busy and the gulf will be quite cold.

We are big fans of the sand-free beach blankets. They fold up into a small bag so they are really easy to travel with. You can find them on Amazon for $30 or less. If we are going to be on the beach for more than a few hours, we usually bring our Kelsyus canopy chairs, which are foldable chairs with a built in canopy. We've also been impressed with some of the pop-up tents we've seen on the beach. One in particular that we are looking at purchasing for ourselves is a OutdoorMaster Pop Up 3-4 Person Beach Tent. We hope you have an amazing time in January, Patty!

Absolutely. We love Venice Beach. The beaches close to the downtown area are very different from Casperson a little to the north, but both are wonderful and very much worth visiting. We actually made a video on Venice beach that we'd recommend watching if you haven't already. Every place we visited in that video is fantastic.

Love the video, AMI is my happy place. My grandparents retired in Bradenton in the 1970s. Lots of summer days spent out on Coquina beach. Between AMI, Longboat Key, and Siesta Key, you just can't go wrong with a vacation in this area.

Thanks so much, Perry. The majority of this video was filmed on a Gopro 360, which does not have 4k. We recently upgraded to a Gopro 10 which does film in 4K, and we've been really happy with it, although the 4K footage takes MUCH longer to load and convert. I've never the DJI pocket 2, but sounds like it might be a great option when we are ready to get another device that films in 4K!

Great video! We were there on a busy Saturday summer afternoon and found ourselves in gridlock traffic on one of the main roads and weren’t able to explore like we hoped to. Is there a time of year or day of the week that you could recommend when it isn’t so busy? We definitely want to return and explore the island, and try one of the beaches you recommended.

We're sorry to hear that the traffic was so bad during your visit. Any time kids are in school is generally a good time to visit. It's a pretty family friendly island, so it definitely gets more crowded when kids are out of school. Hurricane season is a really good time too (provided of course that there isn't an actual hurricane in the area).

I’ve done a good amount of research on this area to plan a future trip and was not quite seeing the appeal. Only because I live on the east coast and have plenty of my own beaches. What an amazing Island and the Beaches are just top notch. You have so many white sandy beaches around there which are few and far between over here. Mostly Yellow or orange sand over here ! I love how you run around to all these places on a scooter - So convenient! Curious if you get many stingers? Something we have to be conscious of around here That sunset was just amazing - your lucky being on the west coast. I live on the east coast over here and only get the Beach sunrise here, which can also be good but need to get up early!LOL

We were just staying on an east facing beach on our recent vacation and had to get up early to see the sunrise. Would have been fine except the sunrise occurred prior to the coffee shop opening 😩. But yeah, we've been getting lucky with sunsets lately. They seem to be at their most beautiful this time of the year (late summer/early fall). We are lucky in that we don't get many stingers around here. I've only been stung once in my life, and it occurred in the Bahamas, not Florida.

@@Explorcation oh no.....Can see a sunrise before the coffee fix...LOL That great about the stingers for there...but if you intend to swim near the Great Barrier reef here, something you might want to think about. Some of the boats offer stinger suits that are so not flattering...lol

I (Skylar) actually got a whole foot full of them when I was filming (barefoot) on Pass a Grille. You always need to be watching where you're going when making you're way to the beach!

If you want to find spots to park on the north end of the island, I'd try to get to the beach before 10:00, maybe even before 9:00 on the weekend. But if you are planning to go to one of the southern beaches with more public parking, you can normally find a spot throughout the day during the week.

In the city of Holmes Beach, most of the streets provide public access to the beach, and the further north you go the fewer people there are. The city of Anna Maria provides very few public accesses, and there's almost no parking near them.

We believe it! It's definitely still less touristy than the beaches to the south just due to the lack of parking. I think Bean Point is mostly now a combination of locals and tourists who rent vacations homes on the north part of the island.

@@Explorcation Ok, this might sound strange, but for someone who doesn't want (or can't) relieve himself/herself in the sea/ocean/gulf, it's good to point out only Coquina and Manatee beaches have accessible public restrooms. Cortez beach, although situated between the two, requires a long walk to get to Coquina's (doable if you are willing to walk for 22-30 mins). I think you pointed out about those back alley public parking spots up north on the side of the streets (since there are no obvious parking lots other than Bayfront park), it is also true at the mid or southern part of the island too "if" you can find them. I actually found a few south of the bridge to Anna Maria on Longboat Key island too with public beach access. They are far more secluded than Anna Maria beaches but the parking spots are very scarce too. The key is to get there before 9 AM (hard if you have to drive like me for 2 1/2 hours to get there). I haven't explored Siesta Key beaches since my aunt lives on the beach, so I never had to try finding these hidden parking spots.
