I always thought the setting of this poem would make an awesome dark fantasy/gothic fiction novel. Tragedy, hideous demons, demented kingdoms, dark oceans, as a writer I'm tempted to make a story like that lol.

Frankly and rice could capture this far better than any other writer, but since that would be too derivative and I'm sure the lady values her originality she probably won't.

Not just the best musical version, but one that gets everything right: beautifully sung and interpreted, period correct in the choice of instruments, and an obsessive melody and tempo that best fits the lyric. A memorable result and achievement. As suggested elsewhere, this is the version that would have greatly pleased it's author.

It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea, That a maiden there lived whom you may know By the name of Annabel Lee; And this maiden she lived with no other thought Than to love and be loved by me. I was a child and she was a child, In this kingdom by the sea, But we loved with a love that was more than love- I and my Annabel Lee- With a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven Coveted her and me. And this was the reason that, long ago, In this kingdom by the sea, A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling My beautiful Annabel Lee; So that her highborn kinsmen came And bore her away from me, To shut her up in a sepulchre In this kingdom by the sea. The angels, not half so happy in Heaven, Went envying her and me- Yes!-that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea) That the wind came out of the cloud by night, Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. But our love it was stronger by far than the love Of those who were older than we- Of many far wiser than we- And neither the angels in Heaven above Nor the demons down under the sea Can ever dissever my soul from the soul Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side Of my darling-my darling-my life and my bride, In her sepulchre there by the sea- In her tomb by the sounding sea.

ANNABEL LEE Seneler, seneler evveldi; Bir deniz ülkesinde Yaşayan bir kız vardı,bileceksiniz İsmi Annabel Lee; Hiçbir şey düşünmezdi sevilmekten Sevmekden başka beni. O çocuk ben çocuk, memleketimiz O deniz ülkesiydi, Sevdalı değil karasevdalıydık Ben ve Annabel Lee; Göklerde uçan melekler bile Kıskanırdı bizi. Bir gün işte bu yüzden göze geldi, O deniz ülkesinde, Üşüdü rüzgarından bir bulutun Güzelim Annabel Lee; Götürdüler el üstünde Koyup gittiler beni, Mezarı ordadır şimdi, O deniz ülkesinde. Biz daha bahtiyardık meleklerden Onlar kıskandı bizi,_ Evet!_bu yüzden (şahidimdir herkes Ve o deniz ülkesi) Bir gece bulutun rüzgarından Üşüdü gitti Annabel Lee. Sevdadan yana ,kim olursa olsun, Yaşça başca ileri Geçemezlerdi bizi; Ne yedi kat gökdeki melekler, Ne deniz dibi cinleri, Hiçbiri ayıramaz beni senden Güzelim Annabel Lee. Ay gelip ışır hayalin eşirir Güzelim Annabel Lee; Bu yıldızlar gözlerin gibi parlar Güzelim Annabel Lee; Orda gecelerim, uzanır beklerim Sevgilim, sevgilim, hayatım,gelinim O azgın sahildeki, Yattığın yerde seni . Wow. I am fascinated by language, and it's a real treat to see an alternative translation from perhaps Turkish? Hungarian ?( am I wrong)? It differs from the original but captures the story, the emotion, and the intensity of the original poem. Anyhow, great song, and now something interesting I wasn't expecting to see!
