I’d like to share with you a comment from Wyndreth herself, about the meaning and power of this song, left on another video of her performing it: (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnLYdGmdjZhpqsU) (some parts edited for clarity) "As most of my writing … is based upon viking age cultures and the style of recreated oral traditions, I do a lot of that … I study and work hard to represent what was lost to us. THIS song, however, has a will and a meaning of its very own … It was clear to me that this was a song that wanted to be sung by anyone who found their own voice within it. It is an anthem of empowerment--not a song meant to serve a specific blood or people or skin. If you find strength and power and your own voice in it, this is your song and I hope you sing it with the strength and rage and beauty and power that is within you--whoever you are. Women are not ever Less Than. We are the singers of storms, the fire made flesh, the inexorable power of the mountains, the kind warmth and the cutting lash of the wind. We are half of the world and we have been taught to speak softly and behave mildly because we are easier to control that way. I am honored that daughters of The First Peoples find a voice here. And daughters of the Sea Wolves. And the daughters of great-grandmothers, grandmothers, and mothers, wherever they lived and sang and died. All of you are their living legacies and they hear you singing; be assured they are proud of you. Whoever you are, you have a voice that cannot be silenced. Together, our voices cannot be unheard. Thank you. SING."

@@Janetsfear With all due respect, it’s systemic and normalized. The whole world looks at you weird as a woman if you do one too many things. Like if you don’t know body language, if you don’t let people talk over you, if you stand up for yourself too often, if you’re too direct about your needs Everyone has the bias to an extent, even you would find it odd at first if a woman told you she wants adult funtime on the first date and with the same intensity some men do. You can be alright, several men can be, but even women reinforce those things amongst one another.. It’s kind of a fight against _everybody_ to try and not get quieted down.

My daughter sent me this song. She said she burst into tears when she heard it because she realized that I am my mother's savage daughter, my mother was my grandmothers savage daughter and that Mother Earth has blessed our family and helped me raise four savage daughters and sons. We all walk our own path and will not bend or break, we all give and take strength from each other, with the ebb and flow of need and life..... And yes, the signs of help and blessings re all around us, just take the time to stop, look, listen and give thanks for absolutely everything and anything that brings a smile to your face. @@awkwardautistic she’s 68 and still a miserable human being with no soul . You would figure eventually she would change with therapy and time .. nope not her .. as bitter and mean . I am so sick of hearing “ she’s your mother “ when was she a mother ? Was it when she knowingly let her boyfriend SA me as an 8 yr old ? Maybe it was she beat me with a frying pan that broke my scapula.. maybe when she blamed me her child for ruining her life for just existing? She literally could have prevented me but decided to make the bad choices she did and end up with a child of a man who never loved her . But I’m the one who paid the price . I learned how not to be a mother from her , how to block a punch to the face/gut and a good right swing . So she may be the one who gave birth to me she is not my mother she was my tormentor. I have not spoken to her in 16 years . She will never have access to me or my children. I moved to another country to ensure that .

This week my firm was about to screw me over and this song was suddenly in my head in repeat ... so I searched for it ... and listend again and again. The day my projectmanager was talking to me and tried to get me to buy her nonsense this song was in my heart and the drum as well. I did not lower my voice. I did not retreat and let someone step over me. I set an example and now others did follow me. If every will happen as things look right now, our entire overhead team will pull back from their duty because of the stunt they pulled with the wages ... I sung this song in my head all day long now ... and I feel better then ever.

I prefer to listen to this Original song because I rather support this one and not the other one who don't give credit to you and your mom. I love it very much and the message you send should always be a blessing and encouraging words through song to sing to all Women. Our women are sacred to us Lakota Sioux which must be taught through generations. From a Lakota to a Nordic Viking or such, do not lower your voices. We hear you 💯🔥

Giving homage to the writer and creator I listened to this... As she wrote this around a fire and lifted her voice to the old ones....This honored her original song...you did very well. It's not about the words or lyrics... it's about the feeling. I raised my daughters on this song...Your version matches the feeling behind what I sang to my daughters...well done.

My favourite rendition of this song for sure. Gorgeous visuals as well! I wish this was on spotify but I come back to it time to time here on KZbin. Wonderful video, beautiful voice and so much emotion expressed. A story of strength, brilliance and resilience was told. ❤️

I am a savage daughter and hopefully the grandmother and great grandmother of more of the same. This world calls to us as she needs us as much as we need her.

I came here, driven by a need to find how to draw a very even pentangle on a circle of wood to restring my five tube chimes, and this popped up. Sweet ❤️🔥
