I visited Eritrea for a few days in 2005 as leader of a diplomatic delegation. It was a surprisingly delightful experience. Asmara is serene and peaceful city. Excellent weather, simple and welcoming people. Always wanted to visit again.

@HABTOM GEZAE HABTEMARIAM If you are interested, there are going to be permanent changes all around the world. People are going to have the most powerful & most caring government in the universe ruling over our planet soon. Psalm 37:10,11 "Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there.11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." Daniel 2:44 “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever," This international magazine, available around the world in more than 1000 languages, explains more: www.jw.org/ti/ቤተ-መጻሕፍቲ/መጽሔታት/ግምቢ-ዘብዐኛ-ቍ2-2020-ግን-ሰነ/

What a beautiful country. I stayed there altogether for 2 years for work purposes. One year in an apartment and the rest of the times in a hotel. The food are great, the people friendly.Fresh vegatables a plenty. But meat scarce. If you enter a shop the price rises immediatly. I never had any issues with visas or whatssoever. I always make sure that when i travel to a foreign country i get myself a dedicated taxi driver. Then you are sorted. Blessings to Eritrea.

Great vid and very well narrated and edited. Most ppl aren't aware that Eritrea was a colony of Italy for 60 years from 1881-1941, which explains the 'Italian' architecture found throughout Asmara.

If I follow your logic, we should see British architecture in Kenya or in Uganda or in India. But we don't. That means there is something different about Eritreans or the Italian intent in the region.

After watching your video I think I may have to research more and more about Eritrea to form my final impression. Because I stumbled into Eritrean things only day before yesterday to get to know about famed beauty of Eritrea and Eritrean girls. Whatever the opinions I expressed right now is based on my two days U Tube experience which I think not enough to form any opinions worthwhile.

It is always good not to believe what you hear on the media (specially about Eritrea), If you are really curious you just need to visit the country and you will return back with full of surprises...beauty, kindness, generosity, bravery of the people and the extra radical stances of the government against neo-colonialism of the west. This video was only made with political intention of defaming the country.

Thank you for sharing amazing video clip. I, an Ethiopian guy, can tell you how bad, devastating and evil war is like. The junk stockpiles you stood over and glanced and wouldn't be able to take photos of containers reminded me of Mengistu's brutal dictatorship that led the two countries into hell of unjust suffering. Eritrea has suffered much both in Mengistu's regime and his successors in such was that they have been excommunicated from international cooperations and bilateral benefits. You singled out and tell me one truth about cleanliness; I dare say to you that cleanliness is their Trademark.

Eritrea went through a lot under the brutal successive regimes of haileslassie and mengestu, however The containers have nothing to do with haileslasdie Megestu or other successor, the containers are current nightmares.

As an American soldier that was stationed there in 1972 and 1973 I can understand what you are saying. In the beginning of your video you showed the big church. I was married in that church on October 28 1973. I remember when that old Fiat building was open for business. There were no junk yards around Asmara at that time and I would imagine the US could be responsible for some of that junk. When you were there did you ever hear about the old US Military base which is also way up on a hill. I would love to see that but I would imagine it would also be one of those places they would not let you see. Things on the local market did cost more and things on post for the Americans were very cheap. I remember paying less than 30 cents for a gallon of gas and 10 cents for a can of Pepsi with a pull tab. We used to string them together and hang them around our rooms. Dang we were stupid. We had reel to reel players and 8 tracks that allowed us to hear Led Zeppelin playing Stairway to Heaven which had just been released in 1971 I believe. We spent many nights on the beach in Massawa and that big round hotel on the water that's called the Dahlak was called the TTU and was run by the Military for the Military. I only wish you could of seen Eritrea or as we called it than Ethiopia in the good days when Hallie Selassie was still His Majesty and by the way I saw him 2 times on post. I was part of the Military Police Security team when he visited. He seemed to be a great man and never would of let his country become what it is today. The greed of a few can take away so much from so many. Thank you for sharing this with an old man and if you have anymore video you would like to share about your visit I would love to see it.

Thanks for the video, tourism has nothing to do with politics. Economy is hard to work on Eritrea, the country has never been free but had been oppressed for so long during our arm struggle. Colonialism, War and many oppressive criteria are the few factors that the people of Eritrea faces many obstacles today. This is slowly changing.
