In UK - bag of carrots 500g £0.70, squash £0.80, potatoes £1, greek yoghurt 500 g £1.89 - these are budget stores where there bulk buying is not allowed so that everyone has a chance. Hence the price can be kept low and eating healthy is encouraged! :) Also Brits love taking up vegetable allotments to grow their own produce and the waiting period for such allotments can take up to 3 years!

Don’t be fooled by the number of items. Once you start going into the fruit section, a regular size watermelon costs around $20 and over $10 for a dozen imported bananas. The milk you just saw is in a 1L container meaning for a gallon of milk you are paying $8. Fresh unprocessed foods and ingredients tend to run cheaper than the states but once you start going into the processed food region or food service sector the price skyrockets easily surpassing any US suburbs and close to NYC or Tokyo - while the average income of Koreans is about 60-70% of that American.

America be like: Nah, just the milk is $40. For those that need clarification in the comments THIS IS AN EXAGGERATION OF A JOKE. America’s prices have been increasing due to inflation (at least in the United States). Of course milk doesn’t cost $40 here, but I’m saying it isn’t cheap lately. Yes, milk is somewhere around $3 a gallon, but by the time you pay tax, it’s closer to $5. This wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, but instead as a relatable joke if you live in the U.S. Sorry if you found this offensive.

Exactly. Florida prices are outrageous right now. Chips $4 a bag. Milk $5 a gallon. Eggs, $7 a dozen. One bedroom apartment $1,400 a month. A room for rent in someone else’s house (no this isn’t a joke and totally not even safe to live with a stranger) $900 a month. Everything is unaffordable. You have a family and need a house? $3,500+ a month. You want to buy a house…. You need half a million for a middle class house now.

In Portland (USA) I go to a major grocery chain and use their app with coupons. I get a lot of good quality food for $40 because I stay on top of deals. Nice to see you got a good amount of food for $40! I know some people overseas and they gripe about food costs.

both korea and japan are known for the extraordinary care that goes into caring for and producing fruit, vegetables, and meat. that is why it is often considered more expensive to eat IN every day versus eating OUT, where you can get a meal cooked with very fresh meat and vegetables without the supermarket prices.

But that's if you are using the US Dollar. But if you are being paid in Korea with Korean won ₩1,590 is the same as 1 dollar and 59 cents (thats the easiest way to look at it. Another way is, if you get paid ₩15,000 per hour, you can relate it to getting paid $15 per hour. I hope this simplifies everything. But if you are taking USD to Korea, then yes the prices are less than the listed price.

That's pretty on point with the prices in upstate NY. I never buy already crushed/cut garlic. Its just way to expensive and all brands I've ever tried taste fishy to me. I prefer beautiful, delicious, cheap, fresh garlic. Literally 1/3 the price. As a mother of 3 I have so manny great ways to save money. Of course a little extra work and time are needed but hey those are the funnest parts.
