agree. money or material wealth is never the end goal, it’s a means to an end goal. if the end goal is for status and societal acceptance, then it shows a flawed way of social belonging - and it needs to be addressed. if the end goal is to provide a better quality of life for family, then i don’t think there’s a social problem unless it’s too extreme because it’s important to not rely on these experiences to love their family. there should be a basic level where material wealth is enough. the most important thing is still the relationship bonding itself, which material wealth can only help to facilitate to a certain extent

The question about SF is funny to me. I do live 45 mins away from SF and let me put it this way I wouldn't go unless I have to. If you stay where the tourists areas are you'll be fine. A lot of shops have closed and the main mall, on Market St., shut its doors a few months back. SF is not what it used to be. Chinatown is good but parking is the shits. Like any big cities, here in the US, just becareful and be safe. Common sense. Hope that helps.
