You kind of hit the nail on the head about what happens in 10 years (Well, I'm straight, but I'm an ally y'all!). Also, I about spit my water out at the leftist teacher remark because I'm literally finishing up a final project for one of my early childhood education classes and writing about the how my neglectful, restrictive upbringing inspired me to work with children. Yeah, each communist leader ends up creating their own version of communism because they adjust the framework to better suit and help their nations, like Mao's was largely based in getting rid of landlords while Sankara's was based on redistributing land to the peasant class, both in broad strokes creating land equity, but going about it in unique ways to better serve their nation's current issues, which aligns with the fact that communism is rooted in sociological analysis.

Fortunately, now that I’m a bit older, she’s more willing to actually hear me out when we disagree on something, but I don’t think she’ll be unlearning her biases any time soon. I do have a problem with other Christians being rude to someone because of their region or sexuality or gender or whatever. like I don’t agree with what other religions teach, but that doesn’t mean I view them as any different. like you can’t treat someone different/ be rude to them just because they don’t believe the same thing as you.
