Thanks for uploading! Great to see that you've started at the beginning instead of taking a jeep further along. Sorry that you could not do the complete circle. Loved the vid.

Hey guys thanks for the amazing video! It looks like you've been there recently but you're not on your way with a tour guide as I can see. How did you do that? Bc everywhere I read you're not allowed to do the trek without a guide?

Thank you so much for the wonderful video and inspiration! Was it easy to navigate the trail?

You very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. The trail was very easy to navigate in the summer. I think it would be a little more difficult in the winter though.

Did you have to get a guide for this? Thank you!
@nowornever41734 ай бұрын
We didn't at the time. But we've heard rumors that the Nepalese government may have implemented new rules. Are you in nepal at the moment?
@annanovack51364 ай бұрын
We are not, we are planning a trip in March and hearing contrasting things on the rules being enforced. We are leaning towards not having a guide and staying in tea houses on the ABC trail. Great video-thanks for all the tips!
@nowornever41734 ай бұрын
@annanovack5136 yeah I think the best thing to do would be ask around other travelers in Kathmandu when you get there and see if it is actually being enforced. In terms of being able to find and stay on the trail I don't think you have to worry. I'm also not sure how easy it would be to enforce mandatory guides as even groups with guides tent to get a little separated along the trail as some people hike faster than others.

@@nowornever4173great to know-do you know how easy it is to get a guide in Kathmandu? Like maybe if we decide that we don’t want to risk it and go with a guide? We are very hesitant to book a guide beforehand!
@nowornever41734 ай бұрын
@annanovack5136 SUPER easy in the Thamel area. You can't go 10 paces without tripping over a travel agency/trekking office. I would not recomend booking anything before you go as prices online are not nearly as competitive as when you are there and can shop around.

Hi guys. I really enjoyed your video. My wife and I walked the circuit back in 2016. Did you have any problems with your permits and TIMS card? The new rules say you need a guide to get a TIMS card.
@nowornever41738 ай бұрын
Hey David! We didn't have any issues at the time but because we were traveling for a full year we are a little behind on the video edits. We did the trek before they brought in the new rules. We have also been wondering how it has been working out. If anyone who watches this video goes on to do the trek, would you mind commenting about the current guide situation? On the one hand I see its a good way to promote employment and also has a trickle down effect (meaning that its another guest staying and eating at all the teahouses) On the other hand as a trekker I might be dissuaded from doing a hike as I enjoy the adventure of doing them on my own. Not to mention the added cost of it.

In this trek, once you made it up to the elevation of 3,000 meters at Upper Pisang, your view would completely change with many majestic snow capped mountains. I would try to get a jeep from Besisihar town all the way up to Upper Pisang if possible and then acclimatise for 2-3 days before moving up to the beautiful town of Manang for another acclimatisation 😊

Like you seem to understand you only hiked about one half of the true circuit. Muktinath to Pokhara, ar at least to Dhampus Phedi over Ghorepani - Ghardruk - Landruk is just as important part of the Circuit as just hiking over the highest point. Actually you did not even circle the Annapurnas at all, easy to see with a map and a ruler. For a taste of the true circuit this slideshow from mid-eighties can help, Dhampus to Pokhara, twice, with Annapurna Sanctuary and Dhaulagiri icefall thrown in for a good measure. 320 km and 25 days. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ram7gaaFZb-osNE PS: your lady friend should learn how to wrap the trekking pole straps correctly, would make them 100% more effective and smoother going. Put the hand into the strap from below so that it goes over the wrist and between the grip and the palm of the hand. No need to squeeze the grip at all. Also much safer as just opening the hand drops the poles hanging free. Convenient also for taking pictures, wiping you brow or picking your nose.

Yes we ran out of time on our permits as we had to stop due to altitude sickness. We hope to return someday to complete the whole journey. Thank you so much for your advise and comment. I assume you've done the whole trek yourself? What would you say is your favorite portion past Muktinath?
@karipintakivi91536 ай бұрын
4 times, in 1984, -86, 2006 and most of it in 2009 (Manaslu, Nar-Pho, Tilicho crossing, ABC). Dhumre - Pokhara twice, from Besisahr once. Dhaulagiri Icefall great sidetrip. Tatopani - Ghorepani - Ghandruk - Landruk - Tolka - Pitam Deurali - Dhampus is great, also A Sanctuary of course.

Does google maps work there,all the way ?? Is a guide or a porter a necessity or we can do without it ??? Great video btw !!
@nowornever41735 ай бұрын
It will work intermittently if you get a Nepalese sim card. But it's a good idea to download the map of the area to have it offline. We have heard that they brought in new requirements for guides but haven't spoke to anyone recently who has done the trail to know if that is the case or not. We had no trouble staying on the trail. Even when you accidentally get off the main trail. All the trails end up meeting back up eventually, so it's hard to get actually lost. Are you in nepal at the moment? If so, please let us know any new information you find out about the guide requirements if you could? Thanks!
