Annapurna Circuit Trek, Nepal - Day 11 - Kagbeni and Mt Nilgiri (May 2017)

24 May 2017 - It's just after 6 am, and I'm on the rooftop of my guesthouse in Kagbeni, where the view of Mt Nilgiri is almost unbelievable to witness! I had a similar view from my room, but I had to get an unobstructed look from the roof. Rays of sunshine are illuminating parts of the Himalayas little by little, and early morning traditions are in full swing in this Tibetan town on the Kali Gandaki River. North of the village, on the other side of the river, is the village of Tiri, which I visited the day before, and further north is the former kingdom of Mustang.
I would only be walking to the next town south, Jomsom, where I'd end my trek. My phone had inexplicable stopped working the previous night, and as I was trekking alone at this point, thought it prudent not to do so without a functioning phone, which was effectively also my map and GPS. So from Jomsom, I took a local bus through the extremely bumpy, dusty, unpaved road down to Tatopani, where I enjoyed the hot springs that afternoon, and the next day, I caught another bus to Pokhara where I'd relax for a week.
I had such an incredible experience on this trek. Some things naturally fell into place, like meeting a group of trekkers that would be my friends for the trek and afterwards, and to be able to be amidst some of the tallest mountains in the world, the highest natural structures on this planet, was almost indescribable. It certainly filled my heart with joy and wonder, and I was grateful that I was fit enough to experience it all.
Now, I'm wondering when I'll return to Nepal to trek again!
