View from Pala Hill, Mulu, Sarawak, Malaysia

28 February 2017 - In the village of Mulu, I was staying at the Marriott Mulu, and just outside the hotel is Pala Hill, a short hike up through dense forest. There were a few clearings at the top of the hill that afforded incredible views of the rainforest all around. There was a sea of green everywhere I looked, accented by the limestone mountains, many of which housed immense caves.
I've been travelling pretty much since I graduated from university, and I've been to many places and seen a plethora of memorable things. To be honest, sometimes it's hard to get excited about visiting another temple, or going to another beach, navigating my way through another city, or exploring another national park. But I constantly had goosebumps during my stay in Mulu! To be deep in the rainforest, hearing insects and birds at all hours of the day and night, to explore secluded caves with unique wildlife, to be surrounded by so many shades of green - it was simply spectacular!
