Floor had only been with the Band for about 2 months before this performance. This song had been shelved from concerts due to Anette’s limited abilities. They brought it back as it was one Floor’s favourite songs before she joined the band. Despite being a basically new singer to the band, the audience was chanting her name after she finished singing.

Kiitos Anna! That was a great reaction to watch. I don't speak Finnish at all, but your face was an open book. However, I did understand when you talked about how Floor flips from one vocal style to another and sometimes she does that in one sentence. She is something special! And so is Nightwish. If Covid allows it, I will come to Finland for the first time in my life (I'm 57) end of July as I have tickets for Kuopiorock and Qstock to see Nightwish in their home country. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, agility, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a soprano with a range of more than three octaves (D3 to F6). It is apparent when listening to her sing that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a vocal coach herself. It is incredible how she is able to take any song and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. I just have to say you are stunningly beautiful. Great reaction.

It seems you are impressed by our Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. If you are not to familair with Floor here is some background information. She started in the band 'After Forever' in 1997 as a 16 year old. The music video of the song 'Energize Me' is my favourite. During that period she got her music education at the new formed Rock Academy (there is a nice TV recording of a reunion with her classmates and images with Nightwish during their Tampere Concert in 2015). After the Rock Academy she attended the conservatory for a year to get some classical lessons also. After Tarja and Nightwish split ways, Tuomas already wanted to have Floor as replacement. He knew her because After Forever acted as support band on their European Tour. Floor and Tarja became good friends since that time. Because he didn't want to force Floor to leave After Forever however, he searched elsewhere and so Annette became the lead singer of Nightwish. After Forever disbanded in february 2009. Floor started her band 'Revamp' from scratch and began to experiment with different vocal sounds including serious growls. Good examples of her versatility are 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' from that period. As she is a perfectionist and wanted to do too much at the same time she got a serious burnout in 2012. She had just recovered from that and then the call came from Tuomas to fill in for Annette who became sick during their North America Tour. She had to learn their entire setlist in 48 hours (see also the documentary 'Please Learn the Setlist in 48 hours'). After she became a permanent member of Nighwish in 2013, she continued with Revamp for a couple of years, but could not combine the two bands in the end, so they disbanded in 2016. Her performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' became legendary. At last she got some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor uploaded many interesting videos in the last year such as chats with her idols and other singers, mindblowing covers, vocal masterclasses and much more. Just go to her KZbin channel and unpack some of the presents she left there (Floorgasm alert!). As she is a high sensitive person, peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton); daughter Freja (just turned 4 years); a horse and pony; 3 cats and a puppy dog, she found this.

This was pretty much my first time listening to Nightwish live. I am a vocal coach, but I try to keep my reactions quite down to earth for general watchers and vocal curious people. I have been aiming my material for Finnish listeners but all the commentary this video gained have gained really got me thinking 'bout doing english versions too. If I knew that's your first "touch" to their live materials, my first message would be more informative and less personal. So - better and worse in the same time.. It should be nice to continue to react to this band, in English or with subtitles. The fanbase is international as you already understood. A very good starting point is the Wacken 2013 show, considered "the golden standard" by many. Floor was at the time for 10 months with the band, and the band seems to reborn with her on stage. And the video and audio quality is excellent. Welcome among us! :)

She can and does sing in multiple languages and she sings any style she wants to sing! 1:40 I notice you do the same thing I do when I'm trying to count time signatures in music. Don't even need to tap to find a 4/4 or a 2/4, but for the longest time I could never get the right timing for the opening until I watch Kai Hahto's drumcam video and with the louder kicks emphasized, it surprised me to find an inverted time signature, 7/6, instead of your standard "lsmaller upper, larger lower" like 2/4, 3/8, etc... and then, just for shits n giggles, the transition from the opening to the first "act" of GLS has a single bar of 7/4 thrown in. Tuomas really loves to play around with timing to get epic feels just from an orchestral backing track, a leading synth line, and a drumset. Another example is 10:33, when a bar of 6/2 is thrown in so Jukka could do a timed lead in without having to do triplets in 4/4 😅

Hi Anna, thanks for your reaction clip. In Buenos Aires Floor was sick on stage. If you want to compare, listen or watch to Ghost Love Score Wacken 2013. In my opinion there is much quality difference between those two Live Acts.

Itse pidän tästä enemmän koska tää loppuhuipentuma on yks tän laulun upeimpia vetoja mitä hän on tehnyt. Argentiinassa on Nightwishisin tulisimpia ja suurimpia faneja jotka palvovat tätä bändiä. Tässä vaiheessa konserttia lämpötila teatterissa oli jo yli + 40 sen takia Tuomas heittää vesipulloja yleisölle, ja energia oli todella korkea ja tämä esitys kyllä kruunasi Floorin jalansija Argentiinalaisiin jotka tunneetusti on ja oli kovia Tarja fanittajia. Mutta suosittelen myös GLS Wacken 2013.

IF the sci-fi ideas about quantum reality are correct, in SOME parallel world Richard Wagner meets Floor Jansen and Nightwish, then writes "Die Walküre." I would LOVE to visit THAT universe... (The series "The Man in the High Castle" popularized the idea of alternate timelines / alternate universes. Hello Anna, I have already replied to a few of your reactions but this one is magical! It’s so nice to see that you’re not trying to speak in English, you could quite easily spoil your reaction by trying to translate in your head; to really get your raw reaction you need to concentrate on one thing only, what you are listening to. Your reaction to Nightwish and Floor was so very good, it’s so interesting to see your technical remarks and analysis of the piece. Yes I’m a big Nightwish fan, and of course Floor, she is so versatile; I don’t know if you’ve seen any of her solo or duo work she has done with Henk Poort, he was her childhood hero, she has always wanted to perform with him.

I haven't yet experienced Nightwish live, but man does it look like a serious party. haha. Nightwish has quite a wide demographic, I'm 66, and you see a lot of young people in the crowd from all around the world. It's pretty amazing. Thank you for reacting to Nightwish.

It is amazing how different songs can sound between Wacken (which i mostly watch) and BA. I think they play the song a little different in some parts, Floor sings it a little different (maybe because of the flu she had in this show if i remember correctly) but the mix is different also. You hear more crowdnoise than in Wacken for example and I think the drums are more prominent. I may be totally wrong tough. Yeah, Floor pronounces some words different.

I'm not certain exactly what you said but I liked the way you said it! Also, by the time of the Wacken concert in 2013, Floor had more or less perfected her performance of this and all the other songs in the set list. For your own enjoyment you might want to watch GLS in that performance as well. It is a larger venue with bigger and better staging, better sound and better video recording equipment. I listened to your song "No One Else" and I like it very much. Your singing is wonderful! 💖👍👍👍

Nightwishillä riittä kyllä materiaalia jota reagoida, ja ehdottomasti kannattaa valita live vetoja koska juuri siinähän bändi on aivan maailman parhaita. Wacken 2013 on kokonaisuudessaan eräs hienoimpia taltioituja keikkoja, ja onhan näitä... mm. Tampereen "Greatest Show On Earth" ja "Islander" , Wembleyn "Yours Is An Empty Hope" ja vaikkapa Buenos Airesin 2019 "I Want My Tears Back" joka kannattaa tsekata ihan vaan jo sen yleisön takiakin.
