Hi Anna, you are speaking God's truth in this devo. The world says we must be thin, we must exercise, we must be healthy (and then they tell you to eat fake food). I see mothers going to the gym and neglecting their children and husbands for how they look. It makes me sad. We are loved even if we do not have the perfect body. Our children need us to love them and care for them, they love us even if we do not look our best. God loves us no matter what we look like. We cannot focus all our energy on looking after ourselves because there will be no time or energy left to do what God has purposed for us. Anna, do not worry so much about the length of the devo's. You cannot plan exactly what God want you to say and how long it will take. Those of us that see the wisdom in you will continue to watch even if it is an hour long video. Keep up the excellent work.

Thank you so much for sharing all these thoughts here Alexani! It’s true. I hear many moms describing how their days go, and I don’t want to be overly harsh or judgmental, but I get concerned that they are missing the point of being a mother. IT’S A GIFT FROM GOD TO BE CHERISHED AND STEWARDED PROPERLY!!!

Girl!! This is soooooo good!!!!! Needed to hear this!!! It’s SO easy to listen to the wrong things that sound good or the WRONG PEOPLE !! I’ve had to cut off so much family this year it’s unreal... but I have to follow God, not them!!!

Thank you Alexis. I’m sorry you’ve had to set up boundaries in so many relationships recently. That can be hard to navigate. I pray God gives you wisdom about if and when you should allow any of those family relationships to ease back in. I know sometimes it’s a hard no even in the future and that stinks. But perhaps God can work reconciliation if both parties are willing. Thanks for watching and sharing! I’m so glad I could encourage you ❤️

Thank you for that❤️ when I first started hearing people talk like that a couple years ago it rubbed me the wrong way but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly why. The more I heard people gushing about self love, self care, self empowerment and the like the more I realized this is just pride and narcissism/ selfishness disguised as motivational speaking. Of course the devil has a counterfeit to the preaching of the truth of God’s Word! Of course 🙄

Oh boy! I felt like I was hopping on the rant train and doing a whole lot of head nodding along the way! Finally someone calling out this "self love" movement for what it is. When I started really hearing this years ago it really rubbed me the wrong way. It really feels like one of those things that sounds so good or feels right that it so easy to say "oh yeah I'm all for that". All the while you are falling deep deep into the wrong path. Driving home tonight I was listening to the song God Forgive Us by For King and Country song and part of the talk at the end really stood out to me. "... finding the truest version of yourself, By knowing the one who knows you even better than you know yourself" It just felt like an amazing reminder. Don't get drug into this "I need to find myself" or "I need more self love" path. But first seek God and see what he has to say and what he has to say about and too you. That's really the path to "finding yourself" or finding peace by first looking to God.

We are clearly on the same page Kaity☺️ I know exactly what you mean about when we first started hearing this stuff a couple years back - it did “rub me the wrong way”- I just couldn’t quite put my finger on what or why until I heard more people gushing about it on KZbin, Insta, and podcasts. It’s pervasive at this point. It’s woven into the fabric of young adult and teen culture right now and so it goes unnoticed by so, so many. But yes, it’s dangerous. God help us! Also, in a lighter note, thank you so much for ordering the RWA Bundle on Etsy!!! I shipped your order today👍🏼☺️ hope you get it soon! And I saw you left a review last time and that helps me so much on Etsy, so thank you for that as well❤️

This was awesome! There are so many "Christian " devotions or bible studies that are more centered around self. We all need to be careful about what studies we do. Praying for you and your family! 🙏🙏🙏

Yes! I see it so often. Reading the titles of Christian books, podcasts, etc and even the words of some worship songs concerns me. I see disproportionate focus on self and not nearly enough focus on the King of Kings, Jesus!!!!

I had to comment bc I am working on loving myself right now and I am doing it with the help of God's spirit. We need to love ourselves in a healthy way, then you can love other people and as a result God better. If you can't be merciful with yourself how will you receive God's mercy? I once followed the new age trend and it made things worse but God got me out of that situation years ago.And the New age tries to sneak into the church so we have to have discernment. God confirmed this to me. Being a follower of Christ isn't a self help walk nor is it about getting what we want from God by pushing our own agenda and then having God cosign. It's about God getting the glory in your life. It's fully submitting to God handing over your life and being serious about what he wants to do in your life. It's not about getting to heaven either. It's about falling in love with God.We need to just forget ourselves and follow him. We are a new creation in Christ. When we decided to follow him. We belong to God now and he can do as he pleases. The good news is he loves us more than we do ourselves so it is always working for the good. We can trust him always.

Catherine, thank you very much for sharing your experience as you’ve been working through this issue. It sounds like you are succeeding and learning some awesome lessons about balance and love that you are going to be able to teach others around you as well in the future. It’s awesome how God walks with us and teaches us when we seek His help. He is the best Teacher! Much love to you Catherine!❤️
