two things i've noticed in this scene that makes it even more romantic: 1. how when he's dancing with anne, his arms are slightly more curved and bent towards her so she can be closer to him. compare this to when he dances with the other girl, his arms are rigid straight 2. how when the music fades out, it serves as a massive symbolism to the moment where they truly see each other, and only each other. they forget about everything and anyone else in that moment and can only focus on them and their kindred spirits. that's true love, and the music portrays it perfectly

hey so no cap just letting everyone know, gilbert legit ruined the entire dance just to dance with anne. if you see when the adults model, they remain directly next to their dancing partner while in lines and circle. however, gilbert and anne were directly across from one another at the beginning, gilbert with jane and anne with charlie. when gilbert spun anne around, they were meant to go under, not spin. he planned it in advance, obvious from his expression shortly after looking miserable dancing with jane (yellow dress). he essentially messed everyone who was dancing up, while charlie gave no fs as he was far too busy looking at anne, following her even when the dance got switched. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I think the true beauty of this scene is that this wasn't a partner dance, as I expected. It was a group dance and they didn't touch that much, besides their hands touching periodically. And yet, they couldn't take their eyes off of each other amongst all the others there. As if it was only the two of them in the room, nothing else mattered. As Diana said it so perfectly, they were beguiled by each other.

Apart from Anne and Gilbert, what literally makes me crazy is the background score. That Banjo, and how it fades into that soft score, it's magicallll! And somehow Rachel saying all that also makes it more rhythmic. It's absolutely stunning. Especially from 0:42. Ahhh my heart.

I only just recently watched this show and this was my favorite scene of those two because I think no one was expecting the scene to be so intense 😳 The way it was slowed down, the music change and that mf eye contact gave me butterflies. And of course how they both realized that they have feelings for each other and got super flustered was cute 😭
