I love this video - Anne -Marie reminds me of a young joni - a beautiful song bird looking forward to hearing more

I'm afraid I'm quite late to the party, but no matter. Your video introduced me to a new artist that I would probably not have discovered otherwise, and led me to Anne-Marie's Bandcamp page where I purchased one of her albums. So thanks very much for that! As I played this album whilst having tea and breakfast and watching the deer forage out front in the crisp chilled air and warming golden sunrise, her music filled my home as if she were playing right in my own great room in front of the fireplace. A beautiful moment of peace and reflection for this old man! ...Oh, in this casual demo I preferred the 3rd guitar...the full body F23. Not sure how accurately the microphone (assuming it's a smartphone recording?) picked up the true spectral balance and tonality of each, but it was clear to see as she played it that the full body was the one tugging at her heartstrings. ;) Over the years, I've spent thousands on acquiring just the "right" guitars, and other instruments as well, that possess that special "something" that draws you in. But it's funny how things work out sometimes... Several years ago for one of my young nephew's birthdays, I bought him an inexpensive but what appeared to be decent acoustic steel string as a beginner guitar, not knowing if he'd want to stick with it or not. I live in a semi-rural area with no music or guitar shops nearby, and was under time crunch as well, so I purchased it Online, sight unseen and unheard based off just one review. It was just a "house brand" that I was unfamiliar with from Sam Ash Music here in the States...a Carlo Robelli W-4102EQ steel string with a built-in electric p/u for less than $150 shipped. I went ahead and took the liberty of purchasing some upgraded strings for it as well. When it arrived, I obviously wanted to check it out just to make sure that it wasn't complete garbage and if it was set up decently...and to restring it. With a quick tune, I gave it a few strums and picks right out of the box with the stock strings and have to say I was already fairly impressed. So I deemed it "usable" and proceeded to restring it. Then, just while tuning it up with the new strings, I let out a quick laugh out loud at how amazing it sounded as I shook my head in disbelief. There was just something really special about the richness of the resonance and harmonics of each string, note, and chord played on this guitar. This led to me sitting there for over 3 hours just noodling on it and trying to find any shortcomings or faults. But I really just kept wanting to hear this guitar's beautiful resonance and harmonics in each string's sustain and decay. It was actually mesmerizing. During all this time I blew right through having any lunch, so as I finally sat down to eat, I went straight Online and ordered a second one of these guitars for my nephew, b'cause d@mn if I wasn't gonna keep this one for myself. 😊 Thankfully, the second guitar that arrived was 'almost' as good. But that original guitar from a quick, random selection Online remains one of my favorite guitars ever, and I still find it to be one of the most inspiring to create with and play. I hope that Anne-Marie keeps playing and enjoying whichever guitar she chose here for many, many years as well! If I had seen this video when you originally released it, I just might've contacted you about buying that F23 if Anne-Marie didn't already snag it. 😉

I bought a f25c used to play and as an investment the previous owner said honestly a Martin or Taylor would be a better investment and I said thanks but I think I like the sound of this one😁

Big regrets of my life, episode 3642: I was 18 years old, had saved up money from my first job, went to a music store in Hannover, Germany, tried out some guitars. The owner showed me a Lowden. I left with an Ovation. Because I'm an idiot.

I'm going with no. 3 also. I have a 012 that I had from new back in 1995. It sounded perfect then & it's got better as the years have passed. Realistically: Any of the 3 lowdens here will be a 'sound' investment! I'm hearing shades of Nick Drake in Anne Marie's writing, can't be bad!!

Good to hear all three played back to back; as others have said, the third one had the edge based on what I could hear. Loved the song and a great voice too. Perhaps Anne-Marie could play-off a couple of the high end brands with one of her songs? I'd like to hear a Lowden Vs Furch...

#3 walnut back and sides, cedar top. I've rarely heard of acoustics using Walnut. Wonder if it's similar to Mahogany? Nice midrange flavor to my ear. Like it!

Great addition to the team. Will Anne-Marie be restricted to acoustics or will we see her rocking out on say a Gordon Smith? 😀

Lowden sound amazing instruments, this is a perfect video to show the amazing tonal qualities. Shame Richard doesn't stock the brand anymore, big mistake in my opinion.

Anne-Marie, you're phenomenal, and a beautiful voice too! I like the unusual key signature you wrote that song in. Have you toured the USA? I suppose it will be a while until they ASAP come up with a rapid CoVid19 test where before a concert everyone must test first before they can attend. The attendance won't be as high, but some attendance is better than none at least until they come up with a vaccine. You're another very talented young artist keeping up the folk genre! The Lowden guitars sound beautiful!

It would have been a more helpful audition of these guitars if Anne-Marie described the tone woods of each guitar!
@RichardsGuitarshop6 жыл бұрын
Well its certainly a shame she wasn't aware of your personal requirements before she presented the video. Sorry about that.
@celticdadgad6 жыл бұрын
Richards Guitars. Not my personal requirements, it’s just what one does when presenting guitars. Different woods do create different sounds & that’s why George uses such a wide variety. This is what helps make Lowdens stand out above the rest.
@RichardsGuitarshop6 жыл бұрын
No Peter. Its a young lady who is the most wonderful singer song writer being kind enough to do me a favor to play some Auden guitars very much in her own style. She is not a professional sales woman - she writes music. You may be surprised to hear that there is no "standard" in expressing an opinion. Sorry you didnt find the video helpful.

I have been playing professionally for fifty years and have never used a capo.
@RichardsGuitarshop6 жыл бұрын
Never too late!
@GeorgeSPAMTindle6 жыл бұрын
That's why you are a professional Dog Wood. Just learn the proper chords, there really is no need for capo use. I have a Lowden O32C with Brazilian rosewood back and sides and that has never had a capo on it.
@RichardsGuitarshop6 жыл бұрын
Come on? Surely you don't mean that? A capo'd instrument has an entirely different tonal texture.
@GeorgeSPAMTindle6 жыл бұрын
It's a matter of personal choice. Some players can use a capo for the difference in tonal textures, but there are many that use a capo because they have only learned to play in one or two keys and use their capo as a method of playing in other keys. They are acceptable as tools, but not as a method of cheating. I used a couple of books from the 1950s, titled something like 'Teddy Baker's guide to Modern Guitar Playing' (how to play Jazz and Hot Guitar). I am sure that somewhere in one of the two books he states that you should never use a capo. On the second page of the first book there is a small section of '26 chords you must learn straight away', just after the introduction explains that the books are not for beginners and that if you work through them for two hours a day you should manage to get through them in two years. I didn't manage to do the whole of the first book, but I bet Dog Wood worked his way through both.
@RichardsGuitarshop6 жыл бұрын
I think some people consider the guitar as a vehicle for expressing their musicality and in Anne Marries case she does it in a sublime way and would never even consider the concept of cheating when expressing her music. I think the concept of cheating implies some form of competition which music really isn't is it?
@winterlandboy5 жыл бұрын
Thumbs down for no markers .Is that meant to Mean your so good that you don’t need ANY markers .Its pretentious as far as I’m Concerned
@RichardsGuitarshop5 жыл бұрын
lol. Its not meant to mean anything of the sort. You dont follow fret markers on the front of the guitar. They are for beginners who "may" look over at the front of the guitar whilst playing and so "may" provide some comfort in the very very earliest period of learning. Anyone who has ever played the guitar without fret markers will know they make totally no difference whatsoever as the markers are clearly shown along the top of the fretboard - looking down. People who have never played a guitar witbout fret markers may presume there will be a difficulty until they actually try it. So my best advice is try a guitar without fret markers (on the front) and you will find that your fingers are guided by the markers on the top - which the Lowden features and all guitars feature.
