It is February 29th, 2024, I got off work a couple hours ago and wanted to hear “Can I have this dance” by Anne Murray. So, I KZbin’d it and this video popped up. So, glad I came across this because she sang some really good songs! I am 51 & grew up listening to Anne Murray because my mom LOVED her and her music! I use to watch my mom sing to her songs. My mom has since passed away, but listening to Anne’s songs brings joy to my heart cause it reminds me of my mom and her love for country music. ❤ Thank you, Anne, for some great memories! (By the way, my kids would make fun of me for listening to “old” music like this. 😂 Just goes to show ya, they have NO taste in good music!)

Can I Have This Dance was our wedding song for our first dance as husband and wife. My husband died in 2003. But that song strikes a sentimental chord every time Anne sings it. I hold the song in my heart.

A few years ago I was in St Augustine, Fl on the way home. I stopped at a convenience store. I had my iphone in my pocket playing "Make Love To Me." That song was written in 1955 a year before I was born. She recorded it in I think 1980. Anyway, the line was backed down the isle. The store crew was young and totally goth in dress, black and pale faced with multicolored hair. Yet as I approached the checkout the young girl started singing with the song and I joined in, we did a duet as Anne led us. She didn't miss a word or a tone. She was awesome. It broke the tension in the store as we all waited. The crowd gave us a standing ovation, well they were standing in line so there wasn't much choice there but we all had fun. I had to ask, "You are too young to know this music, how do you know this?" Her reply, "I was raised by my Grandmother." You never know who you will influence, it goes on....a pebble in the lake.

A remarkable story. I had an eating disorder ( anorexia) But I loved The Lord. 1990 had no records tapes of Anne, but ordered The Best of Anne Murray from the TV. I used to sleep 12: midnight till 4:00 am. Then get ready for work. Many nights instead of sleeping I would listen to Anne, and drink health tea. The time went so fast. I knew Jesus was healing my mind. Started writing and everything rhymed. Still writing

You were my favorite female vocalist growing up. I was so lucky to get to see you in my early 20’s in Lake Tahoe. You are only 11 years older than me. The songs you sang were so relatable and I still love them to this day. My sister worked for Helen Reddy. People use to confuse you two. O e time Helen ended up signing your name when she was doing an autograph at the airport. She said Anne Murray would have done it for me. You still look great. I think you made a difference in so many people’s lives. You opened the door for women to be financially independent and to not compromise their integrity by trying to be something they are not. Helen Reddy was very similar in that regard. So maybe that is why people got you confused-you both deserved every award you won!

Several friends & my mom were called with the news that our names were selected. Six of us ended up going. I do catch a quick shot of my mom & I sitting in the first row of the bleachers. I'm pretty sure if I watch it again that I'll see my friend's father more prominently. He was "senior-citizened" into a ringside seat. The night was thrilling. Anne in great spirits .. Anne Murray's voice is like an aged bottle of wine. Every year it gets better with age.

Where has this beautiful song been all my life? I have never been so heartbroken by lyrics, or so moved by such sweet guitar playing. Thank you.

Anne. I am like everyone else, a great fan of yours. You are one month exactly older than I am. I was born July 20 th, 1945. In Montreal. Having said that, you are thee best of the best.😂 I love every song you have done and my grandkids know I am a such a great fan of yours even though they have no idea who you are and kind of make a little fun of me. I say to you “What do they know” lol. Thank you for just being you, a true Canadian , and a very compassionate person inside and out . 💕💕

yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless.. I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together. seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia 🥺😢😢
