They are literally taking away the only series that teaches us about life. It has no stupid teen drama, raunchy themes, toxic relationships, etc. You have messages of acceptance of yourself, self-love, love of others. Everything. It really takes a lot of work for me to understand how such toxic series and with bad examples are successful and this type of series is not.

I’ve finished the show now. I had hesitated to watch it at the beginning but I have absolutely no regrets, Its one of the best show I have ever seen. Sad, emotional, dreamy, funny, everything. With REAL teens playing and not 30 year old adults playing teens. No violent scene or sex for once and so we can watch the show as a teenager or with family. This show is so interesting it talks about the social problems of the time and even today, self love and difficult years of adolescence. It talks about everything. I’m so sad because I didn’t know there would be no new season... I’m not satisfied with the final.

I started watching shows on Netflix after finding out of this episodes, because I read the novel and loved that story with unexplainable and gorgeous atmosphere. I've seen a lot of other shows, but Anne still my love forever ❤️ This shows changes vision on different things, gives positive emotions and encouragement to someone how needs to accept his unique nature. Watching the first episode when Anne was remembering how she was treated and then feeling unwanted when she's not boy they wanted was heartbreaking. When she said "Home, that's a wonderful word" made me realize just how much in my life I have taken for granted. I have a very loving family, two healthy-handsome little boys, loving and faithful husband, parents, and in-laws and a home that keeps my little family safe. I literally have everything in my life that I ever wanted and prayed for. This series made me feel things I never felt before and Netflix needs to make more season 😭😭

I came across Anne with an E through some positive comments mentioning how good the series is. I finished this series minutes ago. It was just another series for me before watching and now its one of my favourites. The feelings I have had while watching those 3 seasons is so beautiful and pure. Marilla and Matthew´s love for Anne and Anne´s for them proves that love goes beyond blood ties. Love is indeed without condition. I had teary eyes for most of the scenes since season 1. The friendship among the classmates is so lovely, specially Anne, Diana and Cole. Being a girl in her late teens I got nostalgia of my early teens; girls gossips, changes in body and thinking, attraction towards boys, first crush/love drama, feeling matured when we were really just children etc. Imagination of Anne was so fun and relatable; Princess Cordelia and other characters which she played with her friends Diana, Ruby, Jane etc. I also had my own characters out of my imagination in those days which I used to play with my best friend. I will never forget Anne of Green Gables. I just wish it could continue to season 4. Why beautiful shows like this are cancelled!

How young are you? More "modern" just means that today's progressive values are being forced into this story, that was written back when society placed value on high moral standards. As for John Sullivan's production as not being "professional cinematography", it was and still is. Technology is always changing, so this recent version, that you view as modern and professional, will become "old" too, soon enough.

I love everything about this series. Especially the aesthetic and beautiful country-side scenery and cinematography. It's like a breath of fresh air, I love them so much. A feel-good series to me :) I feel oddly calm and happy while watching them. Other than that of course I love how adventurous Anne is. Though she talks too much, she spills some profound words. As English is my 2nd language, this series has taught me a lot already, right from the first episode. Anne's great determination also gets me. So is this series worth watching? Yes.

This used to be one of the shows I'd come across on Netflix and just not pay any attention to. Then one day out of curiosity I decided to give it a try and I regret not having watched it sooner, this is a delightful show and I've never been more heartbroken by the fact that there is no season 4 or 5. Renew this show. To be frank, this show is a relief with all the heavily exaggerated teen/family dramas in TV currently. I started crying after watching this, I finished this show in a literal day, watched it all again another day, and then the next day, watched on KZbin all sorts of clips associated with the show. I truly believe this show is actually the definition of amazing. I saw this on Netflix, and decided it seems good but I was too busy to watch it then so, I added it to my list, and then one day I stumbled across the show again so I decided let me watch this. I was so amazed by the beauty and everything. They show racism, feminism, and friendship so lovely. They also display true love so beautifully, it touches my heart, the love that Gilbert & Anne have defines true love & is so pure. I really really wish Netflix did not cancel it. I actually love this show with all my heart, its just so AMAZING! I spent hours watching the show and other clips related to the show. If only Netflix, could understand what a masterpiece this is. :( I hope one day, Netflix realizes what a big mistake they made to cancel it and add a final season to wrap it up or more seasons, this is not likely but I do wish. I truly love this show with all my heart! It deserved a final season!! Just started watching this, and it’s truly heartbreaking. Anne has the most gorgeous hair, with an infectious smile, and her wits are my favorite thing about her. I want to go through the screen and just hug this poor baby. With that said, teens truly have the most difficult time in adoption. I hope with more awareness people become more open to it. I will proceed to give my opinions on why there should be an Anne with an E Season 4: Anne with an E is such a beautiful show. The cinematography is gorgeous, the actors are stunning, the costumes, the words, and most importantly the message. It gives such a beautiful perspective of daily life. Anne finds beauty in things I would have never noticed if it wasn´t for this show. This show made me realise so many things about my life. This show teaches on how to fight for what´s right, to follow your passions, to love gracefully, to be kind, to be honorous, and it does this with such an indescrpitible grace. Although, it doesn´t feel right for it to be over with Season 3. Here´s why: there are lots of characters and situations and have the potencial to be more developed, since it seems like they´re unfinished, incompletes. With Season 4, I know they will be correctly developed because of how amazing the director is, and I fully trust them. So please, don´t leave the fans incomplete. Give the show a good closure (if it´s ending, I´d love it if it had way more seasons lol). In the meanwhile, we will keep insisting on this matter, and (I hope) we will not give up until we have the show back. Lots of love

Before you start watching this series, I suggest you guys clear your hearts and minds about all the other adaptions of this book. I get that this one looks kinda grim, and dark, but in reality this is normal. They didn't change the book, they just filled in the "gaps" of the book realistically. Episode 1 was heartbreaking for me, and episode two was a bit dramatic, but all in all, you'll love it. Don't forget the other actors too. Personally I love the new Gilbert. I can't wait to see how their lovestory unfolds, and how this series goes. All in all, I'm excited as to what this series has to offer.

They have indeed changed the book by adding storylines that don't fit the characters. I didn't mind the 'filling in' scenes from Anne's past. Her earlier abuse was already implied by Montgomery. Being aware of Anne's history, however, there was no way that Marilla would have sent her back to the orphanage over a brooch by that stage - nor would Matthew have agreed to it. The following dramas were, from what I can tell, just concocted to fill an episode and stretch the whole series out inteminably. From reading reviews, it seems that new characters and storylines have been added to tackle modern popular themes, such as racism etc. This remains my favourite children's book and is perfect as it stands. It does not need tampering with or 'improving'. That's why it is considered a great classic. I had been enjoying the wonderful performance by Amybeth McNutty (much closer to the original Anne than Megan Follows, in my opinion), as well as James and Thompson as Marilla and Matthew. Even Rachel Lynde was well cast. I am not interested, however, in anything other than Montgomery's story, so have just switched off part-way into the second episode. I only hope that fans of the series will take the time to read the book, if they have not done so already.

This is an absolutely incredible show, despite whatever the 80s movie fans may say. The acting, storyline, setting, and cinematography all tie together beautifully in a natural and entertaining way. And to those who are upset that it's unlike the books or the movies, it's an adaptation, not a remake. There are already a ton of Anne of Green Gables remakes. And if what you're looking for is an exact replica of the original, then just read the books. Anne with an 'E' is unique and is definitely a darker and more realistic take on the classic story. I found this last night and watched the first episode thinking I probably wouldn't bother watching the second. Good grief was I blown away! The acting is superb, even from the youngest cast members, and I found Amybeth McNulty an absolute delight to watch. The cinematography was incredible, some gorgeous camera angles and shots all throughout, but what really grabbed me was the story. This wasn't my generations Anne, this was much darker, much more visceral than the happy-go-lucky story we're always shown. I appreciated the fact that we saw Anne's grim past as it allows us to better understand her quirks and personality. I cried twice in the first episode, dammit! I ended up watching until 3 in the morning and will continue tonight. Thank you to everyone involved in this production. It's remarkably done and everyone should be very, very proud.

I just finished episode 5 and I love it so far. They go a little deeper into Anne's past, but besides that it seems pretty true to the book. The girl who plays Anne is doing a great job but I LOVE Matthew. I feel like this actor really gets him, and makes you fall in love with him. And for those saying blah blah wont watch it cause of the 80s one, that's trash. Just because you loved one remake doesn't mean you cant love another. I agree that the 80s one was great and will be really hard to top, but you have to give new things a try. It's a classic book so there will be many adaptations after this one as well. Just view it as it's own thing and give it a try.

I completely agree that you can love both. I just don't like some of the licenses they took with it. I miss the hopefulness of Anne of Green Gables. The goodness of the people in the town. And I do feel as it goes on they veer more and more away from not just the movie adaption but the books. But that's just me. In the book, Avonlea is not a bad place to live at all. Here, it seems a bit like a backwater moor, with not altogether enlightened people in it. Plotwise, it's slightly closer. But.. It's an odd mix of a few scenes that are almost verbatim from the book, a few that are sort of similar, and a whole bunch of stuff not from the book at all. Not AoGG anyway. More like Jane Eyre.

Fangirl Frustrations The truth is this was added in and I find it rather flat and cliche. The books are wonderful because for the time period they were written in, Anne was miles ahead of everything. The greatest part? Lucy Maud Montgomery rarely felt the need to such blatantly point out that Anne was shattering female expectations for that time. (Along with so so many other characters, straying from the cultural norms) It gave this wonderful sense that in her mind everything she was doing was just perfectly normal (which it is nowadays but not then. So this was L. M. Montgomery just straight up telling society that she didn't care what they thought! Yet, she did it silently and slightly passive aggressively. I really love her, okay?) I highly, HIGHLY suggest the books because of this. They're full of strong and independent female characters, and really just characters that are REAL. They stick with you, you hold them close to your heart. It's full of warmth and home and joy and a little sorrow. It's like comfort food in book form. I'm not very happy about this series, I admit. Mostly because I don't think it captures the book properly. Beyond the complaints I've seen here, I'm going right for aesthetics. This just seems a lot more dismal than it should be. The thing about Anne Of Green Gables is that it was essentially the starting point of Anne's life. More so, it's the point when Anne's life turns around. She says in a later book that those first eleven years before Green Gables were like a "bad dream", but we can easily assume that after she came her world considerably brightened. In the books and the more well known adaption, this was exactly what happened! However I'm noticing a dull pallette of greys and muted tones. An overall sense of a room tucked in shadows. It appears that this series is less of the heartfelt comedy and chronicle of Anne's numerous escapades and life lessons. More of a show where Anne must face a new and terrible barrier each time and overcome. Where the original had this idyllic sense, much of the time Avonlea seemed just off of fairyland, this world seems dystopian. Have you ever seen PEI in the early Summer? Even in pictures? It's literally paradise. A poem in place form. This was the world Anne came to from the actual "depths of despair" and it was bright with little white flowers and a White Way of Delight and a little white room all her own. Not only whites but the violets and the amethysts and the pinks of a magnificent cherry tree perfect to sleep in. I am fine with a grey pallette​ for her prior life (though I wish they had not gone for the graphic abuse as that was not even truly elaborated on in the book itself) but to continue it? For the Avonlea school? (Call me nostalgic but besides the 1985 Anne movie, the 7 season spin off based on L. Maud Montgomery's other works; "Road To Avonlea" gave me the most beautiful idea of that schoolhouse. Some of the most wonderful things happened there.) Color and sunlight. Green Gables? It was never anything but full of home fire light. Avonlea itself? It may be full of gossiping old hens but they're​ wonderful souls and their stories provide half the true "color" that make up the charm of the series. To have such grey colors to me is like an angsty teenager brooding in the corner and denying a Disney movie because it's "immature". Anne is ANYTHING but. Then we have the plots. (I've read spoilers but I'm not going to elaborate here.) I am finding this version to deviate from the very heart of the book in so many things but greatly in Matthew. (I am not speaking a single syllable against R. H. Thomson because I don't blame him for a writer's mess up. He's a wonderful actor and like any Road To Avonlea fan he holds a special place in my heart for what he did for the role of Jasper Dale) Apparently in this series Matthew's character will be highly differentiated from original. In ways that seem so unimaginable just reading what was in store left me flabbergasted (and fuming). Matthew was wonderful because of everything he was not. He was NOT a loud and boastful person (ever proving the best father figures can be gentle and quiet souls). He was not at all extroverted (a blessing to any extremely introverted person like myself, it made Matthew that extra Kindred Spirit). He was never interested in romance. (I'm not gonna lie, this was amazing to me. A character who had spent their entire life happily without ever falling in romantic love and who also wasn't a monk or something? That doesn't​ exist nearly enough in TODAY'S literature) He was happy just with living and he did not let the stress of life bring him down. (Matthew was old and we all knew that all that farm work was very hard on him as he aged. They sent originally for a boy to help with the farm work, and got Anne instead. He could have been a jerk and held it against her, or even brought it up or mentioned it once how if things had turned out differently life would not be so hard for him. BUT HE NEVER DOES. He loves Anne like the daughter he never had and treats her like GOLD. It's the most beautiful thing.) However this show seems to veer quite a lot off course in this way with Matthew from what I have read. Taking away quite a bit of what made his character a one in a million. Are we also gonna talk about every girl's dream, Gilbert Blythe? I feel cheated in this category too. (Nostalgic for original Gilbert aside, R.I.P. Jonathan Crombie) My beef is in the relationship. No spoilers but again a newly added plot point is what they're using to bring together one of literature's most beloved couples? It seems almost arbitrary to me. I don't know about you but I definitely appreciate the natural chemistry that grows over time between these two rivals to friends to lovers. I don't want any formulated reasons to get them to "relate" to each other. They didn't need that. They needed Anne and Gilbert learning a valuable lesson from each other as their relationship grows. Instead it's almost like when someone tries to impress their crush by emulating them. It just causes a loss of sincerity. I know now I've ranted too much. It's just this is my favorite book and I'll always be passionate about it. As I said from the beginning please read it. Though I advise you read it before you watch this series. Simply out of the fact that I feel they are nearly two different things. And I want you to feel the joy before the sadness. This is simply opinion though. Thank you.

I loved these books dearly growing up. I read it over and over again . I saw so many of the movies and series but this one has my heart. I cried soo much. I wish there were five more seasons.

I am 56 and I love this series, except for the stressful parts where the criminals were boarding with them. Other than that, I love the simple lifestyle of the Cuthbert and Anne's open mind and heart. This series along with Lark Rise to Candleford are my favorites in the world.

I just finished the first season of this show and I'm devastated! I grew up watching Megan Follows Anne and was a bit cautiously curious about this rendition. I am not disappointed! The core characters played their parts so well, it's like seeing old friends, rather than new faces. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. McNulty's Anne, as she genuinely seems to just ramble on like it's second nature! Also, her hitting Gilbert over the head like that (without hesitation) seemed the most natural reaction for someone with a temper!

I know Netflix will probably not see any of our comments, but we all want a season 4. I finished yesterday and I am crying almost all the time because I really loved this show. I hope they change their mind at some point and make a season 4. But if so the cast will probably not be the same. I am probably gonna watch it over and over again till im done being sad there’s no season 4.

I agree I would love to see a season 4. Never say never. It's all a big fight over distribution rights and money, but maybe the original creators will sell the franchaise someday. Have to say though, they'd have some serious work getting Amybeth ready for that with the hair and all.

This show really opened up my eyes to the beauty of this world. It makes me miss my big imagination I used to have. I grew up a little bit with Anne of green gables so I was super excited that this show came out! I decided to re-watch it just a few days ago and I miss the show so much. The cast is AMAZING and the outfits, I love so much, the storyline is amazing, I love what this show teaches you. It's definitely not like any other netflix show or any other show directors create in that timeline. ( Season three spoiler alert )There was so many stuff that had no ending but needed one. Like for example what happened to Ka 'kwet. We don't know if she got out or not and what about her parents? And it looked like some things were happening between Sebastian and Miss Stacy.( Forgive me if I'm wrong ). And what about Diana?? she goes off to college and then what. And what about Gilbert. And his Journey on becoming a doctor. And these are only a few things that I and probably others have. The big one I want to know is what happens to Ka 'kwet though.) No offense netflix but you guys cancel the best shows. I hope you guys change your mind about keeping season 4 cancelled. But thank you for creating Anne with an E. One of the best decisions you guys have made.

FrostedDream Jamaa Well the season only ended at the first book. If you want to see the full book movie form go watch 1985. It isn't quite as "mondern" but much more enderaring and the acting is better. If your family likes it because it is sad and darker then just wait a while, but if you really know what happens watch the 1985 it is a really good film and brings me back to childhood laying on my mother lap. Give it a try while you wait for season 2 to this one.
